PHAM NEWS | APRIL 2025 16 Exhibition Review For retrofit projects, the Aquarea

Loop, with R290 refrigerant, efficiently replaces radiators while retaining existing pipework, circulating water at a neutral temperature (20 to 30°C) to optimise heating and cooling. A new partnership with controls

manufacturer Tado has resulted in the launch of the Aquarea and tado° bundle – a package that integrates Panasonic’s advanced heat pump system with smart energy management, optimising operation based on individual room needs. This intelligent solution is claimed to enhance comfort while reducing energy costs, ensuring maximum efficiency and convenience.

LG The LG stand provided an opportunity to view the company’s solutions for both commercial and residential spaces, including the new Therma V R290 Monobloc unit, which boasts an A+++ energy rating, and large-capacity Monobloc G Air-to-Water Heat Pump (AWHP). Made to withstand tough

winter conditions, the Therma V features LG’s scroll compressor which is positioned at a low height within the unit itself to enhance performance, even at temperatures as low as -15°C. Producing minimal vibrations, the Therma V also operates at low noise levels to ensure a peaceful environment both inside and outside the home. LG’s Monobloc G large capacity

AWHP offers flexible scalability, allowing the addition of up to eight units to cope with increased heating demand. The Cascade is said to deliver many benefits for multi-family dwellings, including low-noise operation, a space- saving design and continuous operation via backup systems.

Daikin

Demonstrating its commitment to decarbonisation, Daikin’s latest innovations include the Daikin Altherma 4 range, designed to offer low-carbon heating and cooling solutions for all types of buildings. Aimed at single family homes,

the Altherma 4 H is the company’s first range of residential heat pumps with R290 refrigerant. Providing hot water up to 75°C and operating down to -28°C, it is rated A+++ for space heating energy efficiency and is said to deliver exceptional performance in all weather conditions. The high hot water temperature also means the unit can easily support traditional hot water radiator heating emitters and offers a low carbon alternative to gas boilers in renovation projects. Daikin also displayed the first

prototype of its latest heat pump innovation, the Daikin Altherma 4 X, which uses the new refrigerant R454C. This system combines both hydronic heat emitters and air conditioning indoor units, providing heating, cooling, and domestic hot water, and is capable

of serving homes requiring both low-temperature or high- temperature heating, whether through underfloor heating or radiators.

NIBE As well as showcasing its latest product range, including the recently launched S735C Exhaust Air Heat Pump, NIBE used the event to announce a strategic partnership with British Gas, a collaboration that will help to strengthen the company’s service network in the UK.

NIBE has committed to

equipping British Gas engineers with the expertise to service and maintain NIBE heat pumps, which should result in faster response times for callouts and servicing, broader geographical coverage, and improved availability of spare parts for installers. Speaking at the show, UK

MD Paul Smith explained that the partnership will enable the company to scale up its service capabilities while retaining NIBE’s existing team of field service engineers to ensure that customers will continue to receive the premium services levels they expect.

Sunamp The UK specialist in thermal storage technology used the event to unveil a super-compact heat battery that is compatible with Midea heat pumps, and also works with solar PV and grid electricity to take advantage of off-peak tariffs. When used with Midea’s R290 M thermal Arctic HT heat pump series, the Thermino xPlus heat battery effectively eliminates the need for a traditional hot water cylinder, thereby opening up new possibilities for properties where space constraints have been a barrier to adoption. The company says that the

advancement will help to drive greater adoption of heat pump technology by making installation easier and improving overall system performance. As energy efficiency becomes a growing priority, the combination of Sunamp’s heat battery and Midea heat pumps is claimed to represent a significant step forward for sustainable home heating solutions.

Henco The Belgian manufacturer of pipe systems and fittings for the heating and cooling sector provided a first viewing of a number of innovative product solutions, including a new manifold and smart technology for water management and efficient electric heating. Henco’s Pro-Flow Valve Manifold is said to be the first plastic manifold with integrated ball valves for bathroom use and drinking water. A modular, lightweight alternative to traditional brass manifolds, it has helped to simplify the installation process with a self-aligning

performance. Designed for light commercial buildings, EcoMate is said to achieve an average of 30% energy savings by leverage real- time building occupancy insights and weather forecasting for precise energy adjustments. Also new is the Uponor I-shower,

a digital shower that has been designed to reduce the complexity of installation by requiring just a single pipe to the shower outlet and removing the need for drilling into tiles. Featuring an attractive and intuitive interface, it also helps to reduce water consumption by instantly delivering the desired water temperature.

Hansgrohe Said to be the result of six years of research, a new spray nozzle was launched by Hansgrohe at the company’s impressive stand located at the Festhalle. Designed to both reduce water consumption and enhance the user’s showering experience, the flexible nozzle is capable of adapting to different water pressure conditions, automatically enlarges when the pressure increases and closes when the pressure drops. This movement also helps to prevent limescale deposits and reduce the amount of cleaning required in hard water areas. Also on show was the latest

system, colour-coded levers and smart snap brackets. Also new is the Henco Smart

Monitoring system, a smart shut-off valve for home water management. Using precision ultrasonic technology, it records water consumption, temperature and pressure in real time. As a result, any open tap or system leak can be quickly detected, including water leaks of just 0.01 litres/hour (e.g. a leaking tap). Connected to one or more detectors, the shut- off valve instantly raises the alarm when they come into contact with water, shutting off the supply and triggering a notification in the dedicated app.

Resideo To help installers comply with the latest measures of the European Drinking Directive, Resideo showcased a new range of lead-free water filters, set to be introduced into the market this summer. Products in the range include the HS10S water supply unit F74CS and FK74CS filter & combination and F76S reverse rinsing fine filter. The stand also featured products

from the company’s First Alert security products range, which

will start to appear in the ProSeries platform in the UK this year. A well established brand in North America, First Alert was acquired by Resideo in 2022 and the range includes intruder alarms and touch screen control panels.

GF Building Flow Solutions Combining the GF and Uponor brands following GF’s acquisition of Uponor in 2023, GF Building Flow Solutions used this year’s ISH to unveil a number of product innovations for the first time. Highlights include the new

digital Hycleen Balance valve which is able to optimise the equal distribution of hot water circulation within a building by continuously measuring temperatures and digitally controlling the water flow. The precise control of temperature and flow helps to minimise heat loss in the circulation system, thereby saving energy and minimising the risk of Legionella growth. Energy saving is also the key

benefit of the new GF EcoMate, a 24/7 smart heat source management service that combines intelligent software and IoT sensors to optimise heating system

addition to the company’s Raindance showering range – Raindance Alive. Featuring a geometrically designed thermostat with an ultra-flat structure, the shower is designed to give the impression that it merges with the wall to look like a concealed module. The new mesh design made of anodised aluminium almost looks like fabric, giving Raindance Alive overhead showers a more homogeneous and less technical appearance.

Roca With a 1,000m2

stand, visitors to

the Roca stand were able to view several new product ideas and innovations from the sanitaryware manufacturer. Part of the stand was dedicated

to the company’s expanding range of intelligent shower toilets. Latest developments include the incorporation of In-Wash Vorea, where all the advanced features of a smart toilet are subtly hidden, and in-tank versions, which do not require an external cistern. Other highlights on show included Roca’s space-saving Avant toilet which, thanks to an integrated cistern, saves up to 20cm compared to conventional toilets with a front wall installation. Said to set new standards in comfort and hygiene, Avant offers

a splash-free, efficient flush (with a 4.5/3 litre dual-flush option), while the Supraglaze coating makes cleaning easier.

The next ISH will take place from 15 to 19 March 2027
