WD has retired its SanDisk Professional brand and reintroduced its G DRIVE name as the unified brand for its external storage portfolio aimed at content creators and creative professionals. The move brings all HDD based SanDisk Professional products under the G DRIVE label, which will now serve as the company’s single identity for high capacity desktop drives, portable drives and multi bay RAID systems.

The transition includes the adoption of the G DRIVE name and ‘G’ logo across WD’s creator focused line up. Products currently sold under the SanDisk Professional brand will shift to G DRIVE by the end of February. WD said the consolidation is intended to streamline its offering for users working in photography, video production, graphic design, audio engineering and other data intensive creative workflows. The first wave of products under the consolidated brand includes: • G DRIVE ArmorATD – Rugged portable HDD with capacities up to 6TB, IP54 dust and water protection, and a reinforced enclosure for field use.

• G DRIVE – Desktop HDD featuring an enterprise class www.pcr-online.biz

• ThinkStation P5 Gen 2

A desktop workstation equipped with Intel Xeon 600 processors and up to two NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Max Q Workstation Edition GPUs. Designed for compute intensive tasks such as complex 3D CAD, high resolution rendering, medical imaging, molecular modeling and AI model development.

Lenovo will also support NVIDIA OpenShell, an enterprise AI agent framework designed for secure, customizable workflow automation on local systems. Select workstations, including the ThinkStation P5 Gen 2, will be able to host OpenShell based agents directly on device.

The new systems include Lenovo ThinkShield hardware and firmware security features, such as BIOS level protections, secure wipe and integrated privacy controls. The ThinkPad mobile workstations incorporate recycled materials, carry EPEAT Gold, ENERGY STAR 9.0 and TCO Certified 10.0 designations, and meet MIL STD 810H testing requirements. They also introduce improved serviceability with more customer replaceable components and expanded memory and storage options.
