Epson launches the PaperLab A-8100
EPSON has introduced the PaperLab A-8100 Refresh Model, an innovative office papermaking system that transforms used office paper into clean, new paper using Epson’s proprietary water-free dry fibre technology. Available now, the A-8100 builds on the A-8000 model with enhanced features that broaden the variety of paper types it can process, promoting sustainable, on-site paper production. Key advancements include an internal sensor that automatically detects the input paper type and optimising production settings without manual intervention. Users can mix multiple types of paper (limited to copy paper) to maximise efficiency and versatility. The PaperLab A-8100 also offers an expanded range of paper sizes, including A3 perfect binding and saddle stitching, in addition to conventional A4 sizes. This flexibility supports businesses in producing a wider range of in-house printed materials.
The A-8100 incorporates new environmental contribution visualisation tools through Epson’s cloud solution PORT. Accessible via PCs and smartphones, this feature allows businesses to monitor sustainability efforts with real-time data on paper production volumes and environmental contributions. In line with Epson’s focus on sustainability, the PaperLab A-8100 significantly reduces environmental impact while addressing confidentiality concerns in paper recycling. Andreas Asel of Epson Europe emphasises its role in empowering businesses to meet sustainability goals through innovative workplace solutions. By improving functionality, optimising resource use, and expanding capabilities, the A-8100 reaffirms Epson’s commitment to excellence and sustainability, offering a versatile and eco-friendly solution to modern office paper needs.
Brother refreshes compact labelling lineup with linerless capabilities.
BROTHER UK has launched the upgraded TD-2D range of compact desktop label printers, offering 11 new two-inch thermal models designed to improve efficiency, sustainability, and compliance across food, healthcare, and retail sectors. This new range, replacing the TD-2 series, introduces linerless label compatibility for the first time. The TD-2320DFC and TD-2350DFC models reduce waste by eliminating non-recyclable backing paper and enhancing productivity by enabling direct label application. The TD-2D devices are customisable, with optional features such as an auto-cutter for variable label lengths, a peeler for backing removal, a battery pack, and a carry handle for mobile use. Certain models, like the TD-2D DSA, offer standalone label creation through a 3.5” colour touch screen and keyboard, eliminating reliance on external devices and providing shortcuts for frequently printed labels. These features support efficiency in hospitality and catering while ensuring compliance. Designed for healthcare, these printers are compatible with IEC 60601-compliant AC adaptors and are suitable for creating chart labels, sample tags, and dosage notes. They also address food industry requirements, including Natasha’s Law, to improve allergen and nutrition label clarity. The compact design saves workspace in retail environments and supports mobile workflows. Upgrades include USB type-C compatibility, faster printing (6ips, up to 300 dpi), and support for printer command languages like ZPL 2, ensuring seamless integration. Linerless labelling meets growing sustainability demands, reducing waste while improving safety and productivity. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatibility is available on select models, enabling flexibility for various applications.
