Acer UK’s Head of Commercial Nick Walter discuses the dynamics of remote/ hybrid working and the pressing topic of sustainability.


Nick Walter, Acer UK’s Head of Commercial had this to say.


With Hybrid/Remote working here to stay, what next steps should companies be considering to ensure the long-term sustainability of this new working model? Remote working is only sustainable if people are equipped to do their jobs properly. Central to this is smart planning by IT managers, who consult teams about their needs and are able to think in human-shaped terms about how people’s working patterns can adapt to the current reality. It’s partly about providing the appropriate


hardware, such as laptops. Just as important, though is providing the right information associated to those products. Proving accurate information and tools to support better decision-making is key. But it’s not just the equipment. Companies need to consider employee wellbeing and inclusion. As we work more from home it can be a challenge separating home and work activities. In the medium term, we do see a role for the


hybrid office in terms of maintaining morale as well as productivity – and this might well require desktop solutions. Te watchword is flexibility, as nobody can predict the direction of the pandemic. Yes, companies need to react promptly today, but they should keep their options open about what might come next.


What hardware offerings does Acer have in the way of remote and hybrid related devices and equipment? Acer’s hardware proposition provides a full hybrid working solution whether an executive, information worker or frontline worker. Our TravelMate Windows laptop series is built for

remote and hybrid working environments along with our Chromebook Enterprise range. Supporting the remote and hybrid environments with the laptop device being at the core, we of course have the complimentary peripheral solutions from docks, accessories and of course monitors. Basically we have the full end-to- end solution for any working or learning environment.


What are the major growth markets for Acer? Our growth in 2021 has come from multiple verticals/sectors in 2022. As the continuation of hybrid learning and remote working evolves, we see opportunities for growth in all commercial sectors. Growth in the SMB, mid-market and Enterprise space in 2021 are good signs of how these sectors are evolving their working practices. We expect continued growth in these sectors and our product roadmap and channel tools are aimed at supporting our partners within these sectors.


What projects or initiatives is Acer currently working towards? While we have many projects and initiatives, our core global initiative ‘Project Humanity’ is driving environmental change throughout our global supply chain, product innovation and communities. In 2021, Acer signed up to the RE100 global corporate initiative, which commits us to rely 100% on renewable-energy sources by the year 2035. We have already hit our 2020 target of reducing carbon emissions by 60% on a worldwide basis and are thrilled to be part of the RE100. Tis will accelerate change towards zero-carbon grids at scale, alongside a firm commitment to 17 United Nations’ SDGs.
