Half of SAP enterprise workloads will be migrated to the cloud over the next two years, according to a study of EMEA enterprises commissioned by Lemongrass. Security was reported as a key concern among organisations who had yet to migrate to the cloud, along with difficulties in determining the right cloud provider, integration to the broader non-SAP estate and uncertain decision making around SAP S/4 HANA. The research also found that more than half of enterprises (55%) plan on migrating their SAP workloads to the cloud in the next 12 months, believing it will help them achieve better agility (80%), security (78%) and a reduction in operating costs (73%).

Tech firms have their best interests at heart. This comes amid reports that tech titans are facing increasing scrutiny in the public eye, with a growing number of regulators starting to crack down on Big Tech’s dominant grip over society. The research uncovered serious misgivings about data privacy among consumers, with the majority of respondents (66%) concerned about how tech giants are able to collect and use their personal information.
The study also found, nearly half (51%) believe tech giants hold too much control over their personal lives, while the majority (75%) agree that large tech firms have gained excessive power over the technology market. Worryingly, 60% of Britons admitted that they feel like there is little choice but to use technologies provided by tech giants. Despite the monopoly that large tech firms have over the market, 36% of respondents said they made a conscious effort to spend their money with smaller competitors when buying or using technology. The study also highlighted a strong consensus among respondents that more needs to be done to rein in Big Tech, with 72% believing there is a need for tech giants to be regulated more tightly.
New research from Virtana reveals that 70% of cloud decision makers view silos across teams as a hindrance to IT’s ability to maximise business value. The research shows that a lack of executive involvement in cloud efforts, along with cross-functional stakeholder participation, correlates with escalating challenges for enterprises. Notably, only 26% of cloud decision makers claim C-suite executives
are actively involved in their organisations’ hybrid cloud efforts. This is a key finding of a survey of 350 IT/cloud decision makers in the United States and the United Kingdom commissioned by Virtana and fielded by Arlington Research. Organisations that reported a lack of cross-functional cloud stakeholders are less likely than the overall respondent pool to have what they need in terms of cloud management tools and optimisation capabilities. In particular, only 16% reported having billing visibility tools (compared to 40% of the overall respondent pool), 30% have usage dashboards (compared to 44%), and 38% have capacity/usage planning tools (compared to 53%).
