If you think about the past 20 years, technology has progressed at an incredible rate. If we narrow the focus and look at the bike world, the same can be said for our industry. I’d imagine that since many of you have been riding and been working in the trade, the changes you’ve seen would be pretty vast. Some may argue too vast. That there are too many standards, too much choice. But the same could be said for so many things. The positives about technology, specifically when it comes to bikes, have seen many advancements that have made riding so much better. Some may argue against this, but everyone has their preferences. This issue touches upon some of the many forms that technology inhabits.
Be it apps or virtual racing. In this issue, we talk to people utilising technology in different ways. We also look ahead to the festive season, with stocking fillers included in this month’s sector guides. As we approach the final quarter of 2026, it’s certainly been another unsettled period. Unfortunately, we’ve seen more closures and bankruptcies, but businesses have also been saved, and many are growing, despite the odds. If we think of the industry as a community, I know many people will be fully aware of the hardships several of our wider industry colleagues face when it comes to finding a new role. I’ve seen a lot of messages of support following the Accell news, and I hope that everyone impacted manages to find something new. If you’re struggling, reach out to your network; there’s always someone willing to help. If there’s anything we might be able to do or facilitate, please do let me know. There’s a lot to be said for technology, but nothing beats community

and feeling connected. Especially in a time when we’re so connected and disconnected at the same time. That’s part of what I hope something like BikeBiz helps to facilitate. I hope that by us doing what we do, it helps connect people. Now more than ever, connection might be even more important.

THERE’S A LOT TO BE SAID FOR TECHNOLOGY, BUT NOTHING BEATS COMMUNITY AND FEELING CONNECTED. ESPECIALLY IN A TIME WHEN WE’RE SO CONNECTED AND DISCONNECTED AT THE SAME TIME.
