XO Bikes launches first own-brand bikes


A London non-profit for former offenders has officially launched its own range of refurbished bikes. XO Bikes, based in Lewisham in South


East London, helps train prison leavers to become bike mechanics, and has recently made the leap into bike sales. The limited edition XO First50 range have been refurbished and rebranded by former prisoners, and unveiled with the help of cycling commentator Ned Boulting.


The First50 Limited Edition all carry XO branding and a unique ID of the mechanic. The range includes hybrids, road, mountain, step through and single speed bikes, from a number of well-known brands.


After being fully refurbished, they


were ‘swagged’ (powder coated in swag black) and ‘tagged’ (with the fixers unique ID and the number of the refurb). 


The Electric Bike Shop and Cube


partner for second time A new Cube store, in partnership with The Electric Bike Shop, has opened within the retail space at Dobbies Garden Centre, Bath Road, Gloucester. Cube Store Gloucester


is partnered with and working alongside The Electric Bike Shop, following the success of the first store partnership in Southampton, which opened last November. Dan White, director of Cube Bikes UK, said: “We are delighted to be opening our second UK concept store in partnership with The Electric Bike Shop. “The new retail set up in Gloucester is fantastic with our very best bike ranges available, a first class workshop and an excellent specialist store team dedicated to providing a first class experience to our customers.”


Fli Distribution and KTM part ways


FLI Distribution has announced that it has parted ways with KTM after a 10-year partnership.


The Huddersfield-


based distributor first joined forces with KTM Bikes in January 2012, but will cease to be KTM’s UK representative from May 31. A statement from the distributor said: “We at Fli have been proud to represent such a strong and historic brand and to have been part of its growth over the last decade. However, it is time for a change and we are able to now officially confirm that the negotiations between Fli and KTM have successfully concluded and a mutually agreeable end to the agency contract has been reached.” 


Lake Cycling launches UK operation


LAKE Cycling has announced the launch of its own UK operation.


The American cycling shoe brand had been distributed by Moore Large for more than 10 years prior to the distributor’s administration, but will now handle its own distribution in house.

Lake Cycling UK will also be responsible for managing and developing its current partnerships with retailers, marketing strategy and support for the British cycling scene.


Heading up the UK sales drive will be new UK sales director, Richard Williams. 
