INTERVIEW
For a UK dealer reading this, how does your partnership with Extra UK work for independent bike shops when it comes to stock availability, training, and dealer margins? We are extremely pleased with our partnership with Extra UK. In them, we have found the ideal local partner to ensure that we can provide the level of service, support and product availability that dealers expect. The UK market has its own specific requirements, particularly since Brexit. Having a strong local distribution partner is therefore essential. Extra UK holds stock locally, ensuring consistent product availability and fast delivery to dealers across the country. Beyond stock availability, Extra UK also plays an important role in dealer education and support.
Let’s dig a little deeper into development. What does that process look like from R&D to manufacturing? And how do team sponsorships fit into that process? Our development process always starts with a clearly defined design brief. That brief is not created by the engineering team alone. It is shaped by our overall company strategy and incorporates input from across the organisation, including product management, marketing, sales and customer support. Just as importantly, our external partners, including the professional teams we work with, play a crucial role in this phase by providing valuable real-world feedback and performance requirements.
Once the design brief has been established, we move into the conceptual phase. The next step is optimisation. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), we optimise aerodynamic performance, while Finite Element Modelling (FEM) is used to analyse strength, stiffness and durability. This allows us to refine the design digitally before any physical prototypes are produced. Following the virtual optimisation, we move into prototyping, with 3D printing playing an increasingly important role in accelerating development. These prototypes then undergo extensive testing, including laboratory testing, field testing and aerodynamic validation in the wind tunnel. The results often lead to further refinements before the final design is approved. Once satisfied, tooling and mould production begin. After the first moulded samples are produced, we repeat key validation tests, including wind tunnel testing, to confirm that the real-world performance matches our simulations. We also conduct a series of highly demanding laboratory tests covering strength, impact resistance, fatigue and long-term durability. Throughout this process, our team partnerships play a critical role. Professional riders and staff provide valuable feedback on performance, handling and usability under the most demanding racing conditions, ensuring that the products we develop are not only fast in theory, but also deliver tangible performance benefits in the real world.

They provide product training, technical expertise and local after-sales service, helping retailers feel confident when recommending and supporting Scope products. For independent bike shops, that means having direct access to knowledgeable local support whenever it is needed, whether that’s for product advice, technical questions or warranty assistance. At the same time, Extra UK ensures that dealers can access Scope products through a commercially attractive programme with competitive dealer margins. We believe that a successful partnership needs to create value for everyone involved: the brand, the retailer and ultimately the consumer.
With the INEOS partnership underway and your presence growing in the UK, what are the primary goals for Scope, and what can we expect for the remainder of 2026 into 2027? Together with our partners, we have a very clear long-term strategy and product roadmap in place for the coming years. Throughout the remainder of 2026 and into 2027, riders and retailers can expect to see new products, new technologies and further innovations emerging from our Artech development programme. Our focus remains unchanged: continuous innovation, engineering excellence and creating tangible performance advantages for riders. Every new product we bring to market must contribute to that goal. The partnership with Netcompany INEOS plays an important role in this process by providing access to one of the most demanding performance environments in professional cycling; that collaboration helps accelerate development and ensures that our products continue to evolve at the highest level of the sport. At the same time, we are focused on further strengthening our position in key markets such as the UK. Together with Extra UK, we want to continue expanding brand awareness, supporting dealers and making our products more accessible to cyclists across the country. We have a strong innovation pipeline and a clear strategic direction, and we look forward to bringing those developments to market in the seasons ahead.
