Marketing manager Richard Schofield dives into the archives and takes BikeBiz through the evolution of Silverfish designs


ince Darren Mabbott founded the business, Silverfish has always been associated with disruptive design and marketing campaigns and graphics. Over the past few years Silverfish has


become increasingly associated with some outlandish designs and graphics. From company vehicles to the annual product catalogue there has been a surfeit of skulls, mice, yetis, and a whole cast of zombies.


The origins of this foolishness are a little bit lost in the mists of time but Silverfish marketing manager, Richard Schofield attempts to explain: “When your company takes its name from an 80s punk band and you are frequently confused with a household pest, you have bit of leeway with how you present yourself to the outside world! Many of our early brand partners had some ‘out-there’ branding themselves, so I think the feeling was that we had licence to be a lot less corporate than the rest of the UK bike industry at the time.”
