Optoma’s Photon Life PK32 projector. 32

The HW-QS90H All-in-One model is equally compelling. With a built-in Quad Bass Woofer system and 7.1.2-channel configuration, it removes the need for a separate sub. When interior space, or neighbours, are a limitation, that reduction in footprint can be a clincher. A built-in gyro sensor automatically adapts channel distribution, depending on whether the unit is wall-mounted or tabletop placed. Of course, the story here isn’t just about standalone performance. Samsung’s broader play lies in its Q-Symphony technology. Users can now pair up to five compatible devices, be they TVs, soundbars or Wi-Fi speakers, to create a unified audio ecosystem. Anyone purchasing a new Samsung TV immediately becomes a candidate for additional speakers, rear units or Wi-Fi models - and Samsung has a cracking new addition to the latter’s roster.

The Music Studio 7 (aka LS70H) is a cute,

circular loudspeaker that delivers 3.1.1 channel spatial audio with the help of top-firing drivers. The Music Studio 7 is also Hi-Res enabled, up to 24-bit/96kHz, with the super tweeter extending frequency response to a bat-bothering 35kHz. Crucially, all are controlled via Wi-Fi and the SmartThings app, which brings with it grouped playback, voice control and unified management. One interface, multiple rooms, coherent sound. What’s not to like?

The rise of lifestyle projection Whilke not every customer is ready to replace their TV, many are exploring projection as a flexible second display, thanks to a big change in projector form factors and brightness. Epson is pushing into this space with the Lifestudio Flex Special Lux Edition EF-73. Offering 4K PRO-UHD resolution, and 1,000 lumens brightness, this new model is engineered to look bright in ambient light conditions.

Intelligent Instant Setup, incorporating auto focus, auto keystone, auto screen fit and obstacle avoidance, reduces setup friction dramatically. Add in Sound by Bose, Google TV integration and a 150-inch image size, and you have an entertainment hub that’s difficult to resist. “Great technology should feel invisible,” says Kiran Sanghera of Epson Europe. Intelligent Instant Setup, auto focus and obstacle avoidance remove traditional barriers to entry. Add integrated ambient lighting and a wireless phone charger, and the EF-73 becomes a must-have item.

Optoma is taking a similar route with its Photon Life PK32 projector. With 4K HDR support, 1,100 ISO lumens brightness and a 30,000-hour RGB LED light source, it promises low running costs and minimal fuss. A compact footprint and 2.2kg weight make it genuinely portable within the home. Connectivity includes dual HDMI, USB-C and analogue audio output. The £799 PK32 is not just for Netflix bingeing. A claimed input lag of 4.6ms, at 1080p/240Hz, lends it gaming credentials too. Neither of these projectors compete with dedicated high-end cinema models. They address a different customer envisaging movie nights, sporting events, and gaming sessions. “Imagine all that on your wall tonight.” This is home entertainment writ large.

Wall mounts now support giant TVs

As TV screen sizes increase, so does the opportunity to offer incremental services. Sensing the opportunity, Sanus has expanded its wall mount range to support TVs up to 140-inches, including the VXL7, VXT7 and VXF830 models. Dean Carroll, international sales director consumer, says: “As a brand we pride ourselves on keeping up with consumer trends, such as the demand for ever larger TVs, and we will be showcasing a new range that satisfies the installer’s need to mount screens up to 140-inch in size.” Sanus is also deepening collaborations with Sony and Sonos, offering height- adjustable mounts for Sony BRAVIA Theatre soundbars and dedicated stands for BRAVIA Theatre Quad speakers. Add Shift-enabled mounts with post-install height adjustment of up to 20cm, and retailers have a persuasive add-on service. For many independents, mounting is the gateway to custom install. It builds trust, increases revenue per sale and opens the door to future upgrades.
