Shopfloor TAKE A TOWN

Central Sussex 36

Our mystery shopping team has been out and about in Central Sussex to check up on the sales skills of electrical retailers across Haywards Heath and Horsham.

Carters Domestic Appliances, Medwin Walk, Horsham

THIS store in Horsham town centre is situated opposite one of the main entrances to the Swan Walk Centre.

I was looking to buy a vacuum cleaner. Inside

the store, I was approached by Paul, who asked if he could help me. I said that after years of buying supermarket vacuum cleaners, I wanted to buy a lighter, reliable cleaner as my wife is disabled. Paul immediately led me to a display that

featured two Sebo upright products. He asked if we have pets and I said that we have two dogs;

he said that the X4 Pet Ecoboost model (90501), priced at £279.95, would be ideal. He said that this is a 1,100W cleaner that fea-

tures a 5.3-litre fi ltration bag. He showed me the fi ltration bag and said that for £10, I could buy eight bags or for £22.50, Sebo offers eight bags and two fi lters.

Paul encouraged me to lift the cleaner off the shelf and he advised me to return with my wife, so she could try the cleaner and Paul added that the model comes with a fi ve-year warranty.

Paul was on great form. His mention of the warranty was an attempt to close the sale. The store looked well presented.
