Revealed: The top 20 bathroom trends according to Instagram
New research from Harvey Water Softeners has revealed the top bathroom interior design trends on social media. The top 50 posts from over 3.3 million images across five hashtags were analysed to see which interior design features appeared frequently in each individual post. The data also revealed how many likes each
design feature could get in an average post.
The top 20 bathroom design
trends in top posts, were found to include: pure white tiles; dual sinks/his and her sinks; freestanding
oval bath;
taps; in-shower recessed shelves; floating sinks; black- framed mirrors; black shower doors; and black towel rails.
black Martin Hurworth, MD at
Harvey Water Softeners who commissioned the research had this to say about
the design
trends: “Bathrooms are a huge investment and whether we want them looking perfect for visitors in real life, or those viewing our home through apps like Instagram, it’s important we keep them spotless. With the
trend of black bathroom suites growing year on year, we know how irritating white limescale buildup can be for homeowners. Having a water softener removes this problem by eliminating the minerals which cause limescale, saving all of us time and money.” Naomi Nunn, interior designer
from
soak.com further discussed why homeowners are loving these Instagrammable features: “More and more people are embracing colour in the bathroom, so I’m a bit surprised that white tiles are so prominent on Instagram. Freestanding baths are also very coveted as a luxury item.”
Nature-inspired interior trends for this autumn BHETA secures Chicago grants
Anglian Home Improvements has come up with three top tips for style-conscious homeowners looking to update their home for the new season ahead. The days will be getting shorter and nights will start
drawing in, so there has been no better time to cosy up with warm autumnal shades. While it is true that a neutral colour schemes provide a blank canvas, there is a lot to be said for introducing colour. Rich hues such as forest greens, intimate navy blues and luxurious greys look refined and elegant and continue to prove a popular choice for autumn.
For those not feeling daring enough to paint an entire room, Anglian advises painting a feature in the room, such as an alcove or a wall incorporate
of shelves. Or even a bold piece
of
furniture into the design of a room – such as a deep red sofa or armchair – to add colour and personality to the living space. From working long hours to being increasingly absorbed by technology, the time we spend outdoors is becoming limited and we are missing out on the psychological and physiological benefits
of surroundings.

Christmas tree shortage hits the UK
The UK is facing a shortage of
real Christmas trees this year due new legislation which will push up red tape and importation costs. For the first time this year, Christmas trees over three metres in height will require a ‘Plant Passport’ to enter the UK.
This new legislation,
introduced to protect UK woodland against the risk of pest and insect infestations that importation of plants can cause, will drive up the costs of giant Christmas trees by around 200 per cent.
The UK market is heavily
reliant on Christmas tree imports, with £3 million-worth of real trees imported last year alone, most commonly from Denmark, Belgium and France.

and Telford this year,” said
organiser, Gordon Thomas. “The new show dates for
PATS Sandown in 2019 – a Sunday and Monday in February – allowed exhibitors to launch products to the trade early in the year, giving retailers the chance
This, combined with on going uncertainty over Brexit, is expected to have a huge impact on the availability of large trees for 2019 as costs continue to increase.
Businesses seeking giant Christmas trees for their premises in the lead up to Christmas will be hardest hit by the introduction of this new tax. In response to the increasing costs attached to importing real trees, leading Christmas Tree supplier, Christmas Tree World has reported an 40 per cent increase in sales for their giant

For those keen to continue to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors this autumn, Anglian says it’s a good idea to keep doors and windows open as much as possible, and introduce flowers and plants to provide a calmer and restorative environment. artificial Christmas trees in the retail sector year on year. Stephen Evans, managing at

Brexit looms closer,
there is so much uncertainty about importation costs, so the expense of real Christmas trees is only going to rise further until we are certain of the outcome. New plant passports will make importing more bureaucratic, expensive and challenging as it remains very unclear. “
to stock them in time for major consumer events like Crufts. So we are pleased to announce we’ll be sticking to this winning formula.
“The major pet brands have
already booked their stands along with a host of new suppliers, and visitors to this premier Spring show can be certain of seeing all the new launches under one roof. It’s reassuring to know that the pet industry continues to get right behind the UK’s number one pet retail show brand.”

BHETA has secured several exhibitor grants from the Department for International Trade which can help towards the cost of exhibiting at the IHA Chicago show in March 2020 – to the tune of £2000 per applicant. With more than 2,100 exhibitors and 62,000 of the world’s most important professionals gathering to do business, IHA is potentially a very worthwhile opportunity for both newcomers and old hands keen to offset costs. Grants will be allocated on a first come first served basis, so application forms need to be completed and submitted to Nicola Adams- Brown via
nab@bheta.co.uk. There are some rules and
regulations regarding eligibility for the
grant scheme so it
is imperative that BHETA members thinking of applying read the terms and conditions. Examples include the fact that applicants must have fewer than 250 employees and an annual turnover not exceeding 50m, or an annual balance sheet not totalling 43m euros. Participants must own the brand they are selling and have permission to export to the market concerned. Commenting on the
latest
BHETA grant availability Will Jones, BHETA’s Chief Operations Officer who chairs the BHETA export committee, said: “This is a great endorsement for the importance of export for today’s supplier members.”
