Jewson future-proofs in Farnborough
Builders merchant Jewson has opened its first purpose-built Branch of the Future. At 1.3 acres, the Farnborough site houses an extended product range – around 20% more than the typical branch.
Opening hours have been extended, with the branch open from 6:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday, and 7:30am to 12pm on a Saturday. An expansive fleet of delivery vehicles is available to meet customers’ delivery requirements, while the branch also offers drive-in collections with under-cover loading so
customers and their materials– including treated timber – aren’t exposed to the British weather. There is a selection of hot food and coffee available in branch, along with technology charging bays and modern meeting rooms
for customers to use with their own customers – so it feels like the branch is their own.
Branch manager Domi Scrivener said: “Customers are at the very heart of our business and our new purpose-built Branch of the Future here in Farnborough reflects that, acting as a beacon of the very highest standards of merchanting and offering everything customers could need to grow their business under one roof. This is a landmark moment for the business, and one which the entire Farnborough branch team is excited to play a part in.”
Isover joins The Pallet LOOP’s reusable pallet scheme
Insulation manufacturer Isover is switching to reusable pallets, partnering with circular economy pallet supplier, The Pallet LOOP. The change follows the launch earlier this year with Isover’s sister company British Gypsum, the first building materials manufacturer to move to the circular pallet reuse scheme. Both sit under the umbrella of Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions.
The move further supports
Isover’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon by 2050, forming part of their wider sustainability roadmap which aims to minimise waste, re-use materials and tackle emissions to reduce
environmental impact at every stage of build. Isover will roll out The Pallet LOOP scheme from December when the instantly identifiable, green-coloured LOOP pallets will go into circulation for insulation products manufactured in the UK. Isover managing director Dean O’Sullivan said: “Our aim is to lead the way on pallet sustainability. Pallets left behind is problematic from an environmental and financial perspective. By extending our partnership with The Pallet LOOP we hope that this is a further catalyst for change within the industry.

The investment takes the Scottish-based fleet to over 70 vehicles across a range of 3.5 tonne pickups to 26 tonne crane operated vehicles. The new trucks, all of

Boyer is founder of Marsh Industries, a manufacturer of off-mains drainage products. During his year in office, the Master will be supported by Senior Warden Lucia Di Stazio, and Junior Warden Kevin Fenlon.
