DOORS & SECURITY JB KIND OPENS 2023 COLLECTION

Door company JB Kind, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023, has released its new Door Collection brochure.

T

he new three panelled, laminated door, the Cosmo Grey, available in solid and clear glazed versions, combines the trend for hard-wearing laminates, alongside cosmopolitan design. The graphite grey laminate finish offers an alternative to the painted finish Urban Industrial doors featuring solid framing, individual panes of glass for glazed doors, structural stability and no need for specialist ironmongery; it also combines a resilient and uniform laminate finish.

The 13 2023 door handle packs come complete with everything required to fit a door, a ten year mechanical guarantee, as well as three hinges and a privacy option. There are light or dark grey satin finishes of the Austin, Denver and Houston, and a contemporary square rose with a polished chrome insert; as well as four chrome and stainless steel handle styles.

The new online showroom Door Visualiser is also proving popular with merchant customers offering an alternative to a physical door display, allowing customers to try out door designs before they buy.

Sales director, Simon Johnson says: “This year is a very special year for JB Kind, we’ve got a big birthday in July – 40 years as a door specialist - and we’re looking forward to celebrating it. To start us off, we’re launching our 2023 digital Door Collection brochure, and its printed sister brochure, both of which show our hot new highlights. Plus, with industry-first tools, like our Door Visualiser, our customers can see their chosen door options in situ online too, ensuring that purchasing decisions are as easy and as smooth as possible. “In 2023, we are incredibly proud of our new laminate Cosmo Grey door design - a first for this style of door and unique to JB Kind - its innovative durable laminate finish, means this is a truly desirable door and I don’t doubt it will shortly be one of our most popular products. The introduction of our 13 new door handle packs means that customers have access to excellent choice, at cost effective prices, and we are offering a broad range of styles and finishes to suit all interiors. “Most customers are now requesting our brochure as a digital copy which is more convenient and environmentally friendly. ABLOY SECURES WADDESDON MANOR

M

id-Beds Locksmiths Ltd used the eCLIQ solution from Abloy to secure the historic property Waddesdon

Manor, home to the internationally famous Rothschild Collection. By switching to eCLIQ, staff would retain their own key with individual permissions, rather than having to share keys from the previous mechanical master key system. This meant Waddesdon could implement a fully traceable electromechanical key hierarchy system, with each department given different access rights based on their requirements. What’s more, the solution required no wiring, making the installation simple and maintaining the original appearance. Abloy and Mid-Beds Locksmiths Ltd specified a new bespoke solution, issuing around 20 keys and 35 cylinders for stage one, with a view to expanding the system with further upgrades in the future. The eCLIQ cylinders are suitable for doors of any thickness, making them the ideal solution for heritage doors as there are no cables or drilling required, plus the cylinders do not damage the original lock. Ornate cylinders were specified where required, fitting in with the building’s aesthetics and maintaining the appearance of historic locks. BMJ

business we are conscious of our impact on the environment, so rather than sending out boxes of brochures, we’ll be supporting our merchants with POS materials related to the 2023 brochure. These will give their customers immediate access to our Door Collection digital brochure just by scanning a QR code and, if a printed version is required, there is an online request form. “Merchants can expect an updated Trade Essentials brochure very soon too, which will arrive complete with a complementary display holder. Perfect for counter tops and featuring all our top selling door designs, printed copies of these handy pocket-sized brochures will be available upon request.”

SQUIRE STRONGHOLD MARKS 25 YEARS

I

ntroduced in 1998 by the Squire product development team, the first Stronghold padlock was launched as a trailblazer for setting vital new European CEN standards in the security industry. Known as the SS50 Stronghold

range, it heralded a breakthrough in meeting and exceeding new European CEN standards and a benchmark for the market. John Squire, CEO, said: “Back in the late ‘80’s, before Stronghold, it was acknowledged that the market needed more regulated control over misleading and unfounded claims of a padlock’s strength. The then new CEN standards for padlocks were designed to rule out confusing misconceptions about the strengths, and weaknesses, of padlocks. That’s when we decided to build a padlock that would meet and exceed the requirements of the CEN Extra High security category.” The hero in Squire’s Stronghold range is the super-tough, super heavyweight SS100 padlock, it has been the first to achieve LPCB Level SR4, the highest level that any padlock has achieved when tested on its own. That’s why today Squire’s Stronghold range is approved to the highest global standards, not only by CEN but also by Sold Secure, LPCB, and supported by Secured by Design. BMJ
