Knauf Insulation to invest in new, low-carbon rock mineral wool factory


MPH, has joined National Buying Group; the Bristol- based merchant has been in business for 15 years and has nine branches including those in Dorset, the West Midlands, Swansea and Torquay. “Becoming an NBG merchant

Insulation supplier Knauf Insulation is planning to invest circa€200 million in a new state- of-the-art rock mineral wool factory for the UK market. The large-scale facility will use cutting- edge, low-carbon electric melting technology, and have an annual capacity in excess of 100,000 tonnes, Through this investment, Knauf Insulation will achieve two key goals: decarbonising and significantly increasing its UK supply of rock mineral wool products, in addition to its existing Queensferry plant. The additional capacity will become available in 2026. Knauf Insulation is aiming to select the most competitive location for the facility, in order to maximise its future success.


IBMG CEO to speak at BMF conference


Martin Stables, CEO of the Independent Builders Merchant Group, has


been confirmed as one of three industry speakers at the BMF Members’ Annual Conference in September 18-19.


Stables joined the IBMG as CCO in 2021, following over 20 years in the industry with Saint- Gobain’s Merchanting brands.

He was appointed CEO in 2022. BMF CEO, John Newcomb, said: “The rise of regional merchant groups has been a major aspect of the building materials landscape in recent years. IBMG has been at the forefront of this trend, and I am looking forward to hearing Martin’s views on what the future holds.”
