How did you get started in the industry? I actually left school at 16 and joined Fusion Group as it was then 2 weeks later on an apprenticeship as an Office Junior.

10 JON TAYLOR National Sales Director – Power & Fibre
now National Sales Director. I’ve been extremely lucky in the opportunities given by Fusion/ Wolseley and I think the variety of roles I’ve held has given me a real appreciation of what the business is about and how different customer needs can be.
What would you like to achieve in this role? I would like to see the business continue to grow whilst also seeing the team that work for me get the same opportunities I’ve had to progress in their careers
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
I think my highlight so far is having started and growing the original Fusion Power business from scratch in 2007.
What do you see as the main issues for builder’s merchants and for the construction industry at the moment?
The main issue at the moment is that the market isn’t as buoyant as it was especially in the new housing sector. Having said that there are a number of market opportunities though due
to the governments move to Net Zero and the necessity to increase the EV charging network.
What one piece of advice would you give yourself at the start of your career? Have an open mind and be willing to learn, the industry we work in is extremely diverse with a number of possible career paths.
What keeps you busy at the weekends? Spending time with my family, I live in a house full of girls so I’m always kept on my toes. I also enjoy walking and the odd round of golf.
If you’re at the bar- what are you drinking? Lager or Gin & Tonic
What is your favourite book? Favourite film? I don’t really have a favourite film it really depends on what mood I’m in but I will watch a mixture of comedy or action
If you could be a superhero, what superpower would you choose? The ability to fly. BMJ
