MERCHANT FOCUS: JEWSON

“Many of the houses in the area are old-style terraces with back yards. So we’ve designed an outdoor living area with paving and a fire pit that is easily achievable in that small space.”

and seating, so branch staff can sit down with customers and go through options, or customers can look at brochures in the comfort and warmth, whilst having a cup of coffee.

“We also know that our outdoor area will be used by our landscaper customers as a showroom to which they can bring their customers,” Thomas continues. “Our

landscapers may want to bring their customers in and talk them through the options, those we have installed and things we offer in our brochure. Or, they can send them down to have a look on their own, safe in the knowledge that branch staff will be able to help and guide the end-customer, with the conversations about cost and delivery times all happening directly between us and the landscaper,” he says.

Thomas says that already, the display has been great for trade days, as well as being used for customer consultations and colleague training. “Since launching, our landscaping sales at Wigan have increased by 30.5% year on year, and are projecting increases of 35% for 2023. In addition, transactions went up in value by 16%. The

garden building provides a dedicated space for us to discuss projects with our customers, understand their needs and provide a specialist landscaping service to them - to suit all tastes and budgets.” BMJ
