Dontel Roofing Supplies Joins NBG

Hertfordshire-based Dontel Roofing Supplies has joined National Buying Group (NBG) to boost its buying strength with future growth in mind. The roofing specialist currently has branches in Hoddesdon and Bishop’s Stortford, which serve contractors across the region with roofing supplies, cladding and insulation among other products. NBG’s 2024 Conference focuses on ‘Strengthening Our Community’

National Buying Group’s 2024 Conference at the Celtic Manor Resort & ICC took on the theme ‘Strengthening Our Community.’ Building on the strategy launched in 2023, over two days, NBG Partners and Suppliers had the opportunity to engage, and celebrate NBG’s approach to buying better through its commitment to community-building and business support. The Conference emphasised how NBG’s democratic ethos and close-knit partnerships position its Partners to outperform the wider market.

The Supplier Summit on day one of the Conference was opened by a first keynote speech from managing director, Mark Hughes, since joining NBG earlier this year, which highlighted how the buying group is looking to overcome the challenging headwinds faced by the industry over recent years. The Supplier Summit welcome was followed by a keynote from economic commentator Ed Conway, who gave the audience insights into the impact of some of industry’s most in-demand materials on the shifting economic landscape.

NBG’s managing director, Mark Hughes, said: “Our three pillars of Excellence in Buying, Supportive Community, and Enhanced Business Performance are shaping the way we work and we’re seeing them help NBG Partners and Suppliers do better, even with the significant challenges of the past 12 months.”

The Conference also celebrated achievements across the industry through its award event.

Wedge said: “Meeting Phil and the whole process of joining NBG was very positive and professional. Before we joined NBG, our deals would involve maybe half a million pounds, but now, we’re part of deals worth £5 million and more, so it really shows the increased buying power we have through NBG.” Phil Bonar said: “We’re always pleased when merchants come into NBG and immediately see the potential it holds for their own businesses. That level of buying power can make a world of difference on its own.”
