1. Knauf in the middle Knauf’s Windliner boards were used in the first phase of Middle- wood Locks, a new, upmarket mixed-use residential and retail development in Salford, Man- chester. Windliner boards are significantly lighter than trad- itional cement particle board, allowing for easier handling on site and faster installation times. Made from gypsum rather than cement,the boards can be ma- nipulated on site by simply scoring and snapping to the required size and shape. Speed of construction is even further accentuated be- cause the boards require no spe- cialist fixings and no pre-drilling is necessary.

Stormdry masonry cream can be applied with brush or roller to brick, mortar, sandstone or concrete. It provides a breathable membrane, coating the inside of the pores of the substrate so that water can evaporate out through it but cannot penetrate in. This means it can be applied to wet walls because it will allow the water to evaporate out. The IWI comes in 13mm-thick flexible panels which can be stuck straight onto existing walls. It is made from an aerogel, which has extremely low thermal conductivity due to its highly porous nature.
