BATHROOMS
A SPACE POSSIBILITY
With increased interest from homeowners in adding extra bathroom space through conversions or extensions, Saniflo have launched a ‘Discover Saniflo’ campaign, to help educate householders and boost sales.

ncreases in demand for space-saving or space-making products for bathrooms seem to be fuelled by the growing trend in staycations and the popularity of glamping accommodation with private bathroom facilities. That’s according to Ann Boardman Saniflo UK’s head of marketing and product development, who says that the demand in the leisure sector is for leak-free, easy to install shower cubicles. “The same is true in the domestic housebuilding sector where cubicles are being used by regional builders because they can be installed and ready to use in under a day with no follow-on services required” she adds. The trend to add extra facilities rather than move is one that has been in existence for a while as properties and the cost of moving has become increasingly expensive. Adding cloakrooms, en-suite bathrooms and other facilities adds value to a property, saves the
hassle of moving and minimises wasted space. “For the leisure sector, a commercial pump or lifting station means that shower and WC blocks can be added with minimum hassle.” Boardman says that Saniflo has recently launched its Sanifos range of underground pump stations for residential and commercial waste water. The new range consists of five models: the 110, 250 and the 250 Vortex, the 500 and the 500 Vortexand it allows for a pumping station to be sited outside a building, below ground where the drainage is too low for a sewer or too low for a surface mounted pumping station.
“Our domestic range has undergone improvements as well,” she says. “These include quieter technology, new casing design and easy access for maintenance and servicing.” The range includes: Saniflo Up, Sanitop Up, Sanivite, Sanishower, Sanipro Up, Sanipack Up and the Saniwall Pro designed with Grohe cistern technology. Saniflo are also offering free installation of initial purchases of Kinedo shower cubicles together with training for showroom sales staff and installers.
“Following the trend for customer interaction with products, we have launched a new, user-friendly, interactive configurator that enables customers to specify Kineduo bath most suitable for their needs. Available at kindeo.
co.uk, the configurator can be used by anyone with access

to the internet, including showroom staff sitting with prospective customers or merchants who need to assess the options for sale. “We also conduct regular training sessions with merchants either in the depot or at our showroom in Bedford; provide help through a comprehensive e-learning tool and also offer advice on how to display products. With the Kinedo shower cubicles, for example, merchants can have stunning displays without occupying too much space.”
Saniflo also has a network of 80 service engineers operating throughout the UK, who attend call-outs to service, maintain and repair the full range. In many cases the engineers simply rectify wrongly specified or wrongly fitted products. Rarely, Boardman says, is it a macerator or pump issue. “This is obviously good news for plumbing and builders merchants who are understandably reluctant to accept macerator returns. On the very odd occasions that our Saniflo products are unfixable, the engineers are instructed not to return the product to a merchant but return it to us for analysis and fault diagnosis.”
Looking to the future, Boardman says: “The Saniflo range has developed and expanded over the last 60 years and we will continue to innovate. With new ideas always coming to the forefront and an every-changing market, the factories in France are constantly designing and testing and developing new ideas. From small changes within units to improve performance through to brand new products, the future holds more products, more choice and even better technological advances. Multi-generational living due to house prices, etc, mean that installing more bathrooms and making the most of every bit of space within the home will cause the market to think of clever ways to make the most of space and create more inclusive (for the whole family) products.”
