BMJ talks to roof systems manufacturer Marley Eternit and merchants AJW Distribution and MKM Building Supplies, to find out how suppliers and merchants can work together to grow their businesses and generate demand for products.

manufacturers just supplied products and the occasional point of sale material to merchants. Now, as well as traditional support, some manufacturers are offering a whole plethora of services to their stockists to help them grow their businesses and boost product sales.


Marley Eternit, has been investing heavily in this area is roof systems manufacturer as marketing executive, Emily Dix, explains: “As well as creating products and roof systems that are easy for merchants to sell, we are focussing on providing services to support their businesses and help them to generate demand. We now have an entire support programme available that merchants can access – from digital marketing and lead generation, through to technical advice, training and traditional point of sale materials.”


This type of business support from manufacturers is increasingly being accessed by merchants, as Charlotte Woods, marketing director at AJW Distribution, says: “Marketing
