TIMBER Premier achieves record growth
PREMIER FOREST GROUP Ltd has announced record growth for the financial year ending April 2018, which saw their sales revenue grow by £10million to a turnover of £126million. The group, engaged in the importation, distribution, merchanting, sawmilling and wholesale processing of timber and timber products, is on course to achieve a targeted £200million turnover within the next three to four years.
This growth has allowed the
group to relocate two of their rites and appoint its first CEO, co-founder and director Terry Edgell. Non-executive Chairman John Antoniazzi said, “As one of the three founding shareholders of the Premier Forest Group, Terry has been instrumental in the company’s growth and development.”
Terry Edgell, CEO, said “The projections for the current financial year are indicating another record year being achieved. We have achieved significant organic growth thanks to the extensive range of timber and timber products we sell across the group and our customer-focussed sales attitude. We also intend to grow further by acquisition, with several strategically important
companies already targeted, and there will be continued capital investment in all divisions.” The geographic spread of its businesses gives the group even greater confidence in its future. “With national coverage both of the UK and Southern Ireland, we have a balanced portfolio of businesses with 50% of sales revenue coming from our Irish brands and 50% from our UK brands.” Edgell added, “With Ireland still exhibiting one of the fastest growth rates in Europe and Brexit just around the corner, we are fortunate to be partially insulated from some potential negative impacts of the UK’s exit from the EU, so we remain very positive for the group’s future.”

Snows Timber invests in routing system to improve delivery efficiency
TIMBER IMPORTER AND distributor Snows Timber is reaping the rewards of its new rout- ing and scheduling system. The programme, named Routyn, ees the company, part of the Bradfords Group, delivering the same volume of products with 25 per cent fewer vehicles covering 10 per cent fewer miles. Snows is the first company in the UK to use Routyn which was developed in Portugal. The company has already seen considerable savings in fuel costs and emissions as well as improvements in efficiency. Routyn has also enabled Snows to centralise transport planning to give better view of nationwide distribution. It means more accurate deliveries, a reduction in human error, and increased ability to meet customers’ bespoke needs. The efficiency improvements have allowed Snows to refocus resources in their distribution centres enabling them to concentrate on even more activities to benefit the customer. There

Craig Willoughby, supply chain and logistics director of Snows Timber, said: "We are delighted to be break- ing new ground in the UK with our implementation of Routyn. It has delivered a real step change in our transport planning and management capability. “We have been able to quickly achieve more ef- ficiency using less resources in a way that we simply could not have done using our previous manual planning processes. The implementa- tion highlights our desire to develop better and more integrated sales and operations planning processes to continually improve our service offer to our customers.”
