BATHROOMS BATHING BEAUTY

Building & Plumbing Supplies Ltd opened their sparkling new bathroom and kitchen showroom in their Head Office, just outside Leamington Spa. Elizabeth Jordan went to see it.

W

hat’s bigger and brighter and lives in Leamington Spa? It’s the newly revamped bathroom and kitchen showroom at the

head office branch of Leamington merchants BPS.

The revamp has given the showroom a more contemporary touch, increasing the area by 144sq m. The previous showroom area has been removed along with the dividing wall to provide double the space, which has allowed the branch to showcase a wider range of products, including a new kitchen showroom, whilst also introducing new stock lines. John Dibble, managing director of BPS said: “Our old shop and showroom had served us well for over thirty years, however many of the products were hidden in the warehouse, never to be seen on the shop floor.” The concept behind the renovation was to create a clean, well merchandised environment for customers and incorporate a mix of displays. The new layout has enabled the branch to organise products in to neat categories, complete with product information, to make it easier for customers to locate products.

“The new layout draws inspiration from the open plan approach we have used at our other branches, allowing us to showcase our product range in clearly defined sections,” he added.

The bathrooms on show all follow current monochrome trends, some more traditional in style with a curved bath and glass shower and others using structural details to create a bold impression and more modern feel. Kichens, too, reflect the modern trends of natural woods and textures combined with matt colour in calming or space-creating tones to provide varying depth to the spaces and blend storage stylishly with the surfaces and maximise a feel of simplicity.

Dibble said: “The relocation of our Kudos Bathroom showroom has created a focal point and the addition of kitchens has expanded our product range further.”

Their Kudos Bathroom showroom has been 34

relocated to the extended area of the shop floor with the addition of kitchens to their product mix. This has provided a more open and accessible environment, allowing the branch to showcase the latest designs from brands: Villeroy & Boch, Omega and Sheraton, making BPS the go-to premium showroom in the area.

Steve Pontin, Kudos Bathrooms Manager said: “The idea behind the new bathroom showroom is to be modern and open plan, something a bit different to high-street showrooms. We’ve focussed on using less imported bathroom furniture, more British brands and styles.”

These tend to be in the middle to upper end of the market but Pontin said that doesn’t put off local trade. “Local plumbers and builders like a good showroom because it gives them the chance to send their customers to choose the styles and fittings they like. By calling ahead and setting up a viewing with us, we can ensure their customers get the best service as well as being able to discover all the options available to them.”

The official opening event held on 23rd June was opened by the Mayor of Leamington Spa, Heather Calver, who cut the ribbon. Christine Wallace, finalist on the TV show Great British Bake-Off demonstrated the functionality of their kitchens in the new showroom and judged a cake competition held by BPS for Macmillan Cancer Support.

BPS is celebrated the opening for the whole of the following week (25th-29th June),

with free breakfasts, daily deals and supplier freebies for their customers. Representatives from suppliers across the range were also in-store to provide expert help and advice to customers, with names such as Quinn Building Products, Crown Paints and Everbuild turning up across the week.

“I believe the newly renovated shop and showroom has created a fresh and modern environment, more fitting for a modern- thinking builders merchant such as BPS.” concluded Dibble. BMJ
