PEOPLE Brief Encounter Scrub Daddy’s Sylwia Jacob, Head of Marketing, shares her Housewares journey.

What is your current role and how long have you been doing it? I’m the Head of

Marketing for Scrub Daddy UK & Europe, and I’ve been in the

role for a year. It’s fast- paced, creative, and constantly evolving— very true to the brand.

-

What does your role entail?

I lead our UK and European marketing strategy, combining commercial goals with Scrub Daddy’s playful personality. I manage budgeting, planning, team development, and execution across multiple channels, always looking for ways to differentiate the brand and deliver value to customers. A major part of my role is sales enablement—working with retailers, distributors, and partners to create campaigns that drive footfall and strengthen the cleaning category. From national promotions to major collaborations or fun in-store moments, the goal is to ensure Scrub Daddy stands out and sells through.

How did you get started in the industry? My entire career has been in marketing. I began in Warsaw on the agency side, working across PR before launching my own consultancy. I loved shaping brands and spotting creative opportunities. After selling the business, I moved to the UK and transitioned into client-side  

What roles were you doing before and how did they prepare you for this one? I’ve worked with global companies across pharmaceuticals, retail, food & beverage, hospitality, and IT. These roles gave me a broad understanding of how different businesses operate. Agency life taught me agility and storytelling; running my consultancy taught me strategic and commercial thinking; corporate roles taught me process, data discipline, and cross-functional collaboration. Together, these experiences allow me to shift between strategist, creative lead, brand guardian, and data analyst depending on the day.

What would you like to achieve in this role? I want Scrub Daddy to become one of the most recognisable and loved household brands in Europe. Beyond cleaning, I want us to be part of culture—showing up in unexpected places and bringing joy to consumers. I want to build a strong team, grow our presence across major markets, and establish Scrub Daddy as the go-to brand for clever, solution-led products.

What has been the highlight of your career so far? My most meaningful highlights have come from work that gives back— CSR projects, community initiatives, and campaigns that genuinely

support people. Our “Big Cleans” programme, where we provide free house cleans for people struggling with their mental health, is a standout.

Another highlight has been partnering with major brands like Disney. Seeing a joyful idea turn into a national activation that excites shoppers and drives strong social engagement is incredibly rewarding.

What do you see as the main issues for retailers and the industry at the moment?

Retailers face a competitive environment where differentiation is essential. Shoppers want value and experience, and categories like cleaning must work harder to stay relevant. Cost-of-living pressures mean every purchase must feel worthwhile, and rapid digital shifts demand agility and creativity from brands.

What one piece of advice would you give yourself at the start of your career? Stay humble and patient. You won’t have all the answers, and the right opportunities arrive when they should. Stay curious, bold, and open to learning.

What keeps you busy at the weekends? My young family, creative side projects, and anything active—art, museums, sports, travel, or DIY.

If you’re at the bar, what are you drinking? During the day, a mocha with oat milk. In the evening, a Belgian blonde lager or a Pornstar Martini.
