The Solution


For Refrigeration engineers, the key to success and achieving continuous on-going operation of refrigeration systems lies with the correct pump specification plus thorough and regular maintenance of the whole system. Fortunately, specially engineered cleaning chemicals are now available that are quick and easy to use and their long-lasting effects mean less regular maintenance is required.


To stop the fast re-growth of slime, there are three simple maintenance steps to follow. Firstly, you need to ensure free flowing drains. Most engineers will be familiar with sucking out local blockages with a wet/dry vac. For added piece of mind, a chemical drain unblocker can be used, which will ensure all


slime is removed further down the drain line. Secondly, all of the slime needs to be cleared and the micro-organisms which cause it, killed from the evaporator coil and plastic case work. To ensure that even the resistant bacteria is eliminated, a cocktail of biocides and


surfactants that are effective on bacteria, algae and mould should be used. Finally, to stop new slime forming, a lasting dose of biocides and surfactants, such as Jally Strips from Advanced Engineering, will continue to kill all the relevant organisms. By following these steps, maintenance engineers can be sure the treatment will provide up to 12 months protection, resulting in fewer maintenance calls and happy customers.
