PACKED SHOW FLOOR For those looking for the latest in printed packaging solutions, GT Trendhouse 42 will be showcasing its unique approach which addresses both the visual and haptic perceptions of packaging to heighten customer interest. The company creates bespoke concepts which can incorporate screen printing, foil stamping and lamination finishes for an eye-catching and tactile finish. Falconer Print and Packaging will demonstrate its method for creating bespoke printed folding cartons for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, drinks, gifting and luxury confectionary sectors. Italstereo Resin Labels will be presenting its self-adhesive resin labels which are produced using either silk-screen printing, offset or digital printing methods and can be applied on different surface types including metal, wood and plastic. The printed labels can be decorated with foil or embossed finishing and can also be coated in a transparent resin layer to give a 3D ‘dome’ effect. With sustainability being one of the most talked about subjects in the world, the show will play host to an array of exhibitors addressing the challenge of creating a premium-feeling product with an ecological design. One such supplier is Knoll Prestige Packaging, which will launch its new range of sustainability-focussed rigid packaging options. This new range utilises Ecoform, a sustainable and biodegradable option for plastic made from bamboo and sugarcane, intended to replace thermoformed plastic platforms.

Debate, will also return with experts from Green Alliance, Veolia and Biffa continuing the sustainability debate, taking it a step further by looking at consumer concerns, government consultations, packaging for a carbon-zero future and how to ensure packaging doesn’t end up in landfill, or the ocean. Pioneers and design experts from the likes of Mars Wrigley, Stranger & Stranger and Design Bridge, will take to the stage to discuss where they find their inspiration and how they implement it into their own packaging concepts. Visitors will also be given the exclusive

opportunity to vote for the Pentawards People’s Choice Award. A curated exhibition of the best packaging designs from 2018 will be on display for attendees to vote for their favourite. The winner will be announced at the Pentawards Gala, which will be held in the capital on the evening of the second day of the show. Alongside this, the show is introducing a new education programme, designed to connect students and apprentices with leading industry figures. These experts will provide insights into

careers within the packaging industry and offer advice on the possible routes individuals can take to build a successful career in the industry. The feature aims to inspire the next generation of packaging experts and connect the industry with a younger audience.
