No ban on vending in Italy
Recent reports in the mainstream media that vending had been banned in Italy as a result of the coronavirus are not correct, the Automatic Vending Association has said. The AVA’s partners in Europe CONFIDA and
the EVA, have confirmed the situation as follows: • The Lombardy region, being one of the
Italian regions most impacted by COVID-19, has introduced additional restrictions on the movement of its citizens. • One of these is the closure, along with
many other retail outlets, of the on-street 24- hour vending outlets which are so much a feature of Italian street life. • ‘Ordinary’ vending – in hospitals,
government offices, fire departments, the forces and police and other permitted places of work are not affected and continue to provide a vital food and refreshment service.
New director of
euvend & coffeena Effective immediately, Julia Kölsch is assuming the position of director euvend & coffeena, the international trade fair for the vending and coffee sector which is due to be held in October. She succeeds Stefanie Mauritz, who has moved on to become director of Anuga.
Julia has been with the company since 2010, initially as sales manager for the world’s leading food fair Anuga, and since 2014 as director of ProSweets Cologne, the supplier fair for the sweets sector. This gives her more than 10 years’ experience in the field of food and food technology. She will assume the new position in addition to her position as director of ProSweets Cologne.
“Julia Kölsch is impressive for her strategic and
conceptual competence and will continue to advance the reorientation of euvend & coffeena, which for the first time will be held parallel to Orgatec, the international trade fair for the modern working world, in 2020”, said Oliver Frese, chief operating officer of Koelnmesse, remarked.

The spending limit for contactless card payments has been increased from £30 to £45, with a national roll-out beginning from April 1, UK Finance announced. The decision to raise the limit was taken following
consultation between the retail sector and the finance and payments industry and follows similar increases in several other European countries in recent weeks. The changes were already under consideration by the industry, but the process has been expedited as part of the industry’s response to the Covid-19 outbreak to support consumers who choose to pay using contactless at this time. From April 1, consumers will have begun to see an
increasing number of retailers accepting contactless card payments up to the new £45 limit. Stephen Jones, CEO of UK Finance, said: “The
payments industry has been working closely with retailers to be able to increase the contactless payment limit to help customers with their shopping at this critical time for the country. “This will give more people the choice to opt for
