Interview: Diego Perrone - Haier

It’s All About Focus & The People Who Shape Haier

Newly appointed Diego Perrone, Haier Europe MD for UK & Ireland, recently provided a unique opportunity for IER managing editor, Stuart Hopwood, to meet and catch up to discuss his exciting new role.

I

t’s worth noting at this stage, during 2024, it’s been an amazing journey for Haier

with its vision for AI-driven appliances and sustainability, creating the alliance for a sustainable and smart homes. Then there is the personal philosophy of Haier

where its’ people share the company’s vision and shape its future. Not surprisingly, as a global leader, respected and

professional industry leaders are necessary in taking Haier on its further journey of success. Hence, when Neil Tunstall became CEO of Haier Europe earlier this year, his previous role of MD required an appointment of similar experience and approach. Haier Europe proudly announced the appointment of Diego Perrone as the new Managing Director UK & Ireland in October, responsible for expanding Haier Europe’s leadership in the UK and Irish markets, including the support of the independent retailers and other business growth.

Not new to Haier, Diego originally joined Haier 6 | www.ierdaily.co.uk

Europe in 2022 as Head of Cooling, managing the refrigeration business, with accountability for product leadership and the company’s business in the refrigeration segment. Having extensive international experience in

strategy & marketing across multiple businesses, including Industrial goods [Telco & Media], Diego also has a deep knowledge of the white goods industry, having had senior, strategic roles with Whirlpool, Italy, for just under seven years, including his latest as Marketing Director prior to joining Haier. After congratulating Diego on his appointment

and welcoming him to the UK, a few questions were asked relating to his own personal journey as well as the one he will be leading with his Haier Team.

Stuart Hopwood: Congratulations on your appointment. What’s it about the electrical industry you think you like so much? Diego Perrone: Firstly, I’d like to thank you, your readers and everyone for the amazing welcome

PEOPLE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

and hospitality I’ve already received in such a short period of time. I am delighted to be joining Haier UK & Ireland, and excited about the opportunity to bring our vision to life as the first to provide a ‘total consumer solution’ for the smart home. I am also eager to continue the outstanding work of the Team in driving profitable business growth and ensuring the long-term success of Haier Europe. Like my predecessor, I’ve seen the industry

evolve, moving very much from functional items into much more of a total ecosystem with complementing aesthetics of which are massively important. My previous experiences of over 10 years

overseeing the technical and aesthetic progress bodes well in my passion for the consumer white goods industry seeing the investment in whole, sustainable system solutions with a full range of smart products for the consumer. Haier is the first company to offer a full ecosystem to the consumer. There are exciting times ahead for us all as we see the rapid progression in versatility, efficiency and
