LG AI-enabled ThinQ devices earn honours from EISA L

G Electronics’ (LG) innovations in AI technology and design have

earned the company recognition from the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). LG’s AI ThinQ- enabled products including LG OLED TV, LG SUPER UHD TV and LG XBOOM were honoured for their performance in categories assessing premium picture quality, artificial intelligence performance and sound excellence. The LG OLED TV AI ThinQ (model OLED65E8) was named the EISA PREMIUM OLED TV 2018-2019, the seventh consecutive win for the company’s OLED technology. The TV was praised for its picture quality powered by the α (Alpha) 9 processor, and its artificial intelligence functionality. In addition, the LG SUPER UHD TV AI ThinQ (model 65SK9500) was recognised as the EISA ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TV 2018-2019, with

LG’s AI ThinQ platform and Google Assistant built in. With LG’s proprietary AI ThinQ, users can control the TV, connect easily to external devices, switch picture mode and search for content. The latest advanced voice assistant technology embedded in the TV is achieved by employing Natural Language Processing (NLP) to deliver intelligent voice-activated control and connectivity based on LG’s exclusive deep learning technology, the company says. EISA also named LG’s premium AI speaker,

the LG XBOOM AI ThinQ (model WK7), as its EISA ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE LOUDSPEAKER 2018-2019. With Google Assistant integrated directly into the device for quick setup, LG XBOOM AI ThinQ responds to a user’s commands without the need for a remote control or smartphone. As a hub, the speaker can control Google Assistant-enabled smart home devices as well as LG home appliances compatible with LG ThinQ.

Dream of community hub in Norwich gets closer thanks to local business support

he Community Sports Foundation (Norwich) has seen its dream of creating a community hub at Horsford, on the

outskirts of the city, come a step closer with the help of a local firm. When complete, The Nest will have an indoor sports hall, football

pitches, classroom, gym and a lot more. Much of the work at The Nest is in helping the less able to enjoy sport, particularly football, and it is currently home to a Down syndrome squad, power chair squad, Under 12 & Under 17s and adult disability squad. Until now the dirty kit has had to be sent away to be cleaned,

involving unwanted expenses. However, Hughes Electrical has stepped in and handed over two Hoover Candy washing machines and two tumble dryers, now installed in a new laundry room at The Nest. “This will make a big difference to us, enabling us to save on our

laundry costs,” said Jackie Thornton, head of development at the Sports Foundation. “So, a big thank you to Hughes and Hoover Candy for their generous support.” Added Jamie Grimson from Hughes: “The Nest is a great project that

will bring huge benefits to the area, meaning many more people will be able to take part in some kind of sporting activity, including those with special needs. “Therefore we, with our friends from Hoover Candy, were delighted

to be able to contribute in some way to the success of The Nest which is regenerating a former derelict part of the city.”
