make the difference’, what’s your secret to encourage personal and ultimate corporate successes within your team? TA: Wow, thank you for those kind words – very much appreciated and it’s very simple to answer. There are no successful leaders in business without a supportive, dedicated team of people, like-minded to share enthusiasm to succeed in whatever role. There is no secret, it’s simply having the ideal people in the right environment respecting each other.

SH: The independent retailers have a vast choice of other quality brands to stock and sell. Though probably the most common question you’ve ever been asked, what differentiates Beko from its top competitors? TA: The importance of the independent retailers is paramount as they play an essential role for BEKO and within the market as a whole. Whilst competition remains intense, our focus continues to be on helping retailers succeed through great products, responsive service, strong training support and an aftersales proposition that protects both retailer and consumer confidence.

SH: Following on from the above question, what support does BEKO provide to the independent retailer in forms of product training, sales & after sales support, including repairs and servicing. TA: Support with sustainability is of paramount importance. Key points in place and recognised are: • Over 1,000 field engineers supporting customers nationwide, forming a core part of our service proposition. • The highest customer satisfaction and Net Promoter Scores in our history. • A continued commitment to repairability, refurbishment and circular economy principles through initiatives such as our Peterborough Refurbishment Centre. • Spare parts availability for up to ten years on many products, helping consumers keep appliances in use for longer. • Connected appliance technology focused on practical consumer benefits, including adaptive programming, predictive maintenance and energy management. • Dedicated independent retail training programmes including Hotpoint Heroes and Blomberg Boost. One area of particular interest is repairability and

refurbishment in our Peterborough Refurbishment Centre where appliances are repaired, refurbished and returned to use as part of our repair-first approach.

experience across markets and brands, strong R&D capabilities and design expertise, BEKO will continue to develop solutions that make everyday life simpler, more efficient and more enjoyable, while supporting a more sustainable way of living.

SH: As an Award-winning brand, established here in the UK in 1990, BEKO manages other brands, including Hotpoint, Whirlpool, Indesit, and several others within the White Goods arena. Appreciating the need for confidentiality on future short and long- term business plans, is it possible to share any snippets of visionary information of any focus of increasing strength of any of the managed brands and possibly, will Beko be reviewing its portfolio to encompass any manufacturing diversification into the growing supply of domestic energy products – i.e., Air Source Heat Pumps? TA: R&D into new innovations is constantly changing though its not just about new technology, it’s about understanding how people live and turning technology into solutions that deliver real benefits in everyday life. How much do consumers use their products? Do consumers use ECO functions? At this stage it must be stressed, the UK is the cleanest country in Europe. For the future? Powered by our global

PEOPLE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

SH: With a history of total dedication, steering a successful company, your workload with BEKO is full-on, this was even more so when you were, until recently, Chair of AMDEA. So, on a more personal note, just between you, me and a few thousand IER readers, how do spend your ‘down-time’? TA: Outside of work I enjoy travel, art museums, history and walks within National Trust facilities. Supporting young leaders, in fact, leading women in leadership programmes and mentoring young people in the ‘Futures for All’ programme, which is a registered charity dedicated to support and inspire hundreds of thousands of young people annually with work experience and talks throughout the UK. I’ve always had a passion for continuous learning and personal development, as such, being a fluent speaker of both Spanish and French also allows many diverse interests in other countries. Concluding our meeting it was great to enjoy a

show around throughout the range of brands and vast array of products, thanks to Lizzy. It was also great to catchup with an industry friend whom I’ve known and respected for many years, Andrew Mullen, who has been with BEKO since 2005.

• EDITOR FOOTNOTE: Thank you Teresa, Lizzy Laing, Strategic Brand and Trade Marketing Manager, and Andrew and Team BEKO for your generous time and hospitality.
