The new B.E.G. DALI light sensor that scales new heights Lighting controls specialist B.E.G. has launched a unique energy-saving DALI light sensor that works at ceiling heights that were previously impossible.

T

he new B.E.G. PD4 DALI GH is the latest building automation product to be released by the German manufacturer and includes an innovative external telescopic light sensor. It can

be mounted at heights between five and 16m and is ideal for warehouses and high-bay storages. The compact B.E.G. sensor, which is designed to be surface-mounted, includes both the light and the telescopic occupancy sensor which also measures and adjusts the light according to the application. It operates as a master device, and other slave devices can be linked to it to extend the detection area. The unit is fully programmable but basic switching and dimming functions can be operated manually by push button interface, or additional functions can be set up by remote control. The B.E.G. PD4 DALI GH can be set up to be a permanent or time-limited orientation light, ensuring safety critical areas are never dark, while still offering substantial energy cost-savings. Additional B.E.G. parts can be ordered to increase the

capacity of the system linking additional units to work as a group using the DALI / DSI interface for control of digital dimmable electronic ballasts as a group. To solve a common issue in high-bay warehouses where light is only required in one aisle at a time, detectors can be positioned in such a way

using a blind system that the sensors detect movement only in the desired aisle locations. B.E.G. Director for UK & Ireland, Paul Jones, said: “We’re

really pleased to be able to offer to market the brand new B.E.G. PD4 DALI GH light sensor. It’s a unique product as it provides constant light control and uses the external

telescopic light sensor which means it can be mounted much higher than other current light sensing products on the market. “The B.E.G. PD4 DALI GH represents a chance for warehouses and, other

high-ceilinged storage and factory buildings, to be able to reap the benefits that our other lighting solutions offer.”
