s I write this, the EW Awards team is making the fi nal preparations for the EW Awards, which will take place at the beautiful Chelsea Harbour Hotel on 24 September. On to the issue. There is something of a solar energy focus in this issue - ironically, considering we are well on our way into Autumn and the sun is showing its face less and less frequently as the year goes on. According to Passiv UK’s Ian Rose, eff ective data monitoring is central to ensuring that heat pumps perform as effi ciently in practice as they do on paper. “Installing these systems is only half the challenge,” he says. “The real test is whether they continue to perform as intended once the home is occupied.” Elsewhere in the issue, Levelise’s Iván Castro makes a strong case for the smart future of the domestic renewables sector.
