EDA Update

Eddie Embleton appointed CEO Designate of the EDA

The Electrical Distributors’ Association (EDA), a leading body in the UK’s electrotechnical supply chain, has announced the appointment of Eddie Embleton as CEO Designate from 1 October 2026.

E

ddie brings over a decade of senior- level experience within the electrical industry, most recently as managing director of Voltimum, where he led and grew its digital media and data business. He has already built strong working relationships with many wholesalers, manufacturers and associations across the sector, which he will draw on in his new role.

The appointment follows a highly successful 12-year tenure by Margaret Fitzsimons as chief executive and includes a structured transition period as she steps back into a part-time strategic role, ensuring continuity and a smooth handover

of responsibilities.

In his new role, Eddie will lead the EDA’s next phase of development, working with the Board, the EDA team and the Association’s 260 wholesaler members and 130 affiliated companies to strengthen the EDA’s position at the heart of the industry and further develop its work across training and education, digital innovation through EDATA and ETIM, market insight and events. EDA President, David Moore, said: “I am delighted to welcome Eddie to the EDA. He brings a strong understanding of our industry together with a proven track record of building partnerships across the sector. We look forward to working

closely with Eddie to develop and deliver services that add real value for our members.” Commenting on his appointment, Eddie Embleton said: “It’s a real privilege to be joining the EDA. This is an organisation with a fantastic reputation, built over many years, and I’m looking forward to working with the Board, the team and our members to build on that success. I’ve spent much of my career working alongside wholesalers, manufacturers and associations across this sector, and I can’t wait to bring that experience to the EDA as we move into its next phase of development.

EIC raises £10k with anniversary walk T

On 10 September 2026, the Electrical Industries Charity celebrated 121 years with a 13 kilometre walk through London.

he event brought together supporters from across the electrical and energy sector to shine a spotlight on mental health and wellbeing, raising over £10,000 for the charity’s work supporting individuals and families working in the electrical and energy industries through life’s challenges. The walk celebrates more than a century of the EIC, and it also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of community, connection and early support in a sector that continues to face significant mental health challenges. Starting at King’s Cross St Pancras at 10am and finishing at London Bridge at approximately 4pm, participants walked together through the capital to raise awareness of the positive impact that simple, everyday actions can have on mental wellbeing.

The event also highlights the need for continued conversations around mental health. By walking side by side, participants are sending the message that support is available, help can be found, and there is always hope. Every positive

action, no matter how small, contributes to better mental wellbeing.

Walking for Mental Health Earlier this year, the Electrical Industries Charity challenged the industry to walk a collective 10 million steps during the month of May, with participants achieving an impressive 13.9 million steps. This challenge served as an important reminder that small steps can make a massive

difference to day-to-day mental wellbeing, such as getting outside and getting fresh air. Walking is widely recognised as one of the most accessible forms of physical activity, offering benefits that extend far beyond physical health. Regular walking can help improve mood, reduce stress, boost energy levels, and promote a greater sense of calm.
