InstallationNews ESP cameras installed in Nork Park Social Club
Persistent attempts to break into Nork Park Social Club in Banstead, as well several incidents of damage to the car park wall, leſt members frustrated and out of pocket. Now, ESP has come to the rescue with a security system upgrade.
W
ith all the incidents occurring under cover of darkness, the
original CCTV system at Nork Park Social Club was proving inadequate. It didn’t cover all the required areas of the premises and surrounding land and it wasn’t providing images of sufficient quality to read car number plates or help identify the perpetrators. The committee agreed on an
upgrade and asked fellow member Tony Cable – former Events and Marketing Engineer with NICEIC and ELECSA – for advice. After consultation, he advised them to install ESP’s HDView Sixteen Channel Full HD 2TB DVR, and to replace the poor quality cameras with new ones to increase the number of cameras from six to 10, to cover the premises, grounds and car park. The HDView Sixteen Channel Full HD DVR is a high definition digital video Recorder that provides superior quality live images and recorded footage. It is networkable for remote viewing from a PC or Smartphone or tablet – allowing the club to keep round the clock surveillance. The six new bullet cameras installed outside are 3.6mm fixed lens

cameras with high definition 2MP AHD sensors and built in 20m infrared LED illumination. The housings are IP66 rated for weather protection. Four dome cameras have been positioned inside the club house. The white cameras feature 3.6mm fixed lens, HD 2MP AHD sensors, with built in 10m infrared LED illumination.
Another club member – NICEIC
Approved Contractor, Glen Dunkin – carried out the installation. He said: “I have installed CCTV systems before but this was by far the easiest system to work with and set up; the pictures were
very clear and of excellent quality. Installing the HDView system was really straightforward and because we had use of one of ESP’s LED CCTV monitors, it made the whole task much simpler. “Because the system can be remotely accessed and viewed, it provides peace of mind that everything possible has been done to maximise the protection of the club premises.”

Cable cleats designed and developed in North Yorkshire in response to a maintenance problem that was causing Network Rail health and safety issues, have been installed for the first time in Wessex Rail Alliance’s Waterloo and Southwest upgrade project.
T
he award-winning Ellis No Bolts cleat, from cable cleat innovator, Ellis, is an all
polymeric stackable product that is the first ever cable cleat to be granted PADS approval by Network Rail. Tony Conroy, Ellis’ Global Sales Director, said:
“The Ellis No Bolts was initially developed to meet a customer requirement to tackle and addresses a significant installation and maintenance issue. It was then developed into a full range and is now being specified for major projects by industry leading names.” The Waterloo and Southwest
upgrade project is an £800m investment by Network Rail and the Department for Transport to increase the capacity for trains and passengers on that part of the network. The Wessex Rail Alliance is a partnership between Network Rail, Aecom, Mott Macdonald and Skanska. “This is an enormous project and one that requires a complete new
cable infrastructure to support the huge increase in trains operating on the network,” continued Tony. “To see the Ellis No Bolts cleats specified for the very first time for it says a great deal about the quality of the product, the faith these major companies have in Ellis, and the great work being done by our UK distributor, ETS Cable Components.”
The initial problem, outlined to ETS by
Network Rail, was that live cables needed to be removed from cleats; work carried on around them; and then somehow placed back between tightly spaced upright studs at regular intervals along an entire run. So Ellis designed a new product that could be
stacked and fixed with a simple quarter turn fixing lock, allowing additional cable runs to be added quickly and easily, without any need to tamper with existing ones. The rapid-fit nature of the new cleat is further enhanced by the replacement of fixing nuts with a push-fit locking mechanism that securely fastens the lower and top section of the clamp together.
Ellis No Bolts cleat also meets the
London Underground 1-085 approved material standard, and conforms with IEC 61914.
