LEMO exhibited its range of industry-leading electrical and fibre optic interconnect solutions at the Medical Technology show held in Ireland.

n display, LEMO had an extensive range of products providing existing customers and, potentially, new design-engineers the opportunity to view some of the latest innovations and meet the LEMO team.
The company featured the latest addition to the industry standard REDEL plastic push-pull connector with a new SP variant. The REDEL SP has a new patented internal push- pull latching system embedded in the shell, offering increased durability and higher contact density. Constructed from a proprietary poly-sulfone material the new connector variant can withstand a higher number of sterilisation cycles and has an improved strength, making it less prone to accidental damage. As with the standard REDEL range the SP variant is available with multiple contact configurations and in a variety of colours giving instant visual identification that is vital to
avoid cross mating. Also, it incorporates an ergonomic grip that assists operators making it a failsafe connector to use. With an aging population and an increase need to serve a lower social economical class with the development of emerging markets, the medical industry faces some tough challenges ahead. This trend will inevitably shift health care delivery models towards increased homecare and the development of wearable health monitoring devices. In addition, companies will need to provide innovative solutions which are cost effective without compromising quality as the medical approval process become more stringent.
