Advertorials Panasonic Industry Europe releases automotive

film capacitors ECWFG series contributes to automotive applications with high safety and high reliability characteristics

With the advent of the Electric Vehicle market, Panasonic has capitalised on its burgeoning Film dielectric technology, to create new products for on- board charging and powertrain electronics. The new AEC-Q200 qualified ECWFG series (Metallized Polypropylene Film Capacitors) from Panasonic Industry Europe features an operating temperature range of -40°C to 110°C; a rated voltage of 630V.DC, and a nominal capacitance range of 1.0µF to 4.7µF. This enables it to cater to most of the high frequency and high current circuitry in this segment.

ECWFG series offers high humidity resistance (85°C, 85% RH, 500V.DC, 1000 hours), high thermal shock resistance (-55°C up to 85°C, 1000 cycles), and a high temperature load test (125°C, 450V.DC, 1000 hours). A flame-retardant plastic case and non-combustible resin further reduce the risk of flammability. The products are fully RoHS compliant.

Furthermore, Panasonic’s original in-house patterned metallisation process achieves a very stable capacitance level over the capacitor’s lifetime and therefore guarantees a high reliability for the application. The patterns serve as a fuse mechanism function that prevents catastrophic short mode failure.

Functioning as Power Factor Correction or Smoothing capacitors, ECWFG series is ideal for a broad spectrum of applications including DC/DC, DC/AC, AC/DC converter, input and output filtering, or snubber for industrial power supply, EV / PHEV charger and inverter applications for Renewable Energy.

Hylec launches new TLM Series screwless push wire PCB terminal blocks – multiple styles and pitches optimise board design

UL & VDE approved, compact and versatile

Hylec-APL, the specialist supplier of electrical components and enclosures, has announced the extended TLM Series of screwless PCB terminal blocks. Needing no special tools, the TLM Series offers fast connection for wire sizes between 0.05mm² and 8.37mm² and are shock-resistant. Devices within the TLM Series are available in multiple styles and pitches to offer designers optimum flexibility in design and the possibility of saving valuable PCB real estate.

Just a short description of a few of the terminal blocks within the TLM Series illustrates the breadth of this comprehensive series. The

TLM250C is available from 2-pole, has a sprung screwless push wave design with long pin close to the side cover. On a 2.50mm pitch, rated voltage is 250V, rated current 2A and minimum wire size AWG20. The TLM250D models are the short pin close to side cover equivalent, again rated for 2A/250V. The TLM900R is also available from 2-pole, with a sprung screwless pushbutton wave horizontal 2.54mm pitch design which is end stackable. Rated voltage is 150V, rated current 2A, with wire sizes 26 - 20AWG (0.2/0.5mm²). An equivalent vertical model, the TLM900V is available too. On a 3.50mm pitch, the TLM002C and TLM002D are 2 pole spring screwless pushbutton Wave designs with either long pin close to side cover or short pin close to side cover. The single row, design is rated 250V, 2A, with a wiring orientation of 135 degrees wire to board. The TLM-302R screwless push button design on a 5.08mm pitch offers rated voltage of 300V and rated current of 10A in 20 – 14 AWG size. The design is 180 degrees wire to board.

Area and improved RDS(on) for Hot Swap designs Ensures no compromise between protection and operating efficiency

Nexperia, the global leader in discretes, logic and MOSFET devices, today introduced the latest addition to its NextPower Live linear-mode MOSFET family, PSMN3R7-100BSE delivers a best-in-class combination of strong Safe Operating Area (SOA) and low RDS(on), and is ideally suited for hot swap, soft start and e-fuse applications. In order to manage the high in-rush current that can occur when swapping a server board or other pluggable system, or to ensure that a processor board is brought up smoothly, a MOSFET with high SOA is used in conjunction with a hot swap controller. Previous generation parts have traded off SOA against RDS(on), whereas the new technology maximizes SOA

150°C Conductive Polymer Hybrid Capacitor portfolio in THT

format from Panasonic Industry Europe suits automotive uses ZF Series enables mission-critical applications; first Hybrid Capacitors in through-hole format

Panasonic Industry Europe is expanding its conductive polymer hybrid aluminium electrolytic capacitor range with its new ZF series products, rated at 1,000 hours at 150°C, enabling devices to support cutting-edge power train and engine-mounted applications in the automotive sector. Besides the high temperature rating, ZF Series hybrid capacitors are the first available in Through Hole Technology.

Hybrid capacitors are one of the most promising solutions for high-endurance and high- performance application that also require miniaturisation. The conductive polymer hybrid enables stable and very low ESR across the full

temperature range of -55°C up to +150°C. Ripple currents in the order of 1Arms can be dealt with at peak voltage and temperature while maintaining ESR as low as 20m . The ripple current capability, as well as the lifetime of the capacitor, increases as temperature reduces, as indicated on datasheet. This makes ZF an excellent choice for specialised applications that experience a broad mission profile in terms of applied ripple and ambient temperatures.

Furthermore, a rated voltage from 25VDC to 63VDC and a capacitance range from 30 F up to 270 F, enable the ZF Series capacitors to cater to both 12V and 48V systems. Like all hybrids, ZF Series devices are fully RoHS-compliant and AECQ-200-compliant.

New 175°C AEC-Q101 MOSFETs in miniature leadless

Nexperia, the global leader in discretes, logic and MOSFET devices, today announced the industry’s first AEC-Q101- qualified MOSFETs that are both rated for use at up to 175°C and are available in the AOI-compatible DFN2020 package (DFN = Discrete Flat No leads). More, the new devices measure just 2 mm x 2 mm, much smaller and lighter than SOT223 and SO8-packages yet with comparable electrical and thermal performance.

Many leadless packages cannot be inspected using AOI techniques, so Nexperia pioneered the development of the DFN2020 package with side-wettable flanks (SWF), enabling Automatic optical inspection (AOI) – a critical automotive industry requirement – to be employed. Packages with SWF are now a proven, accepted solution.

Comments Malte Struck, Nexperia’s product manager for small signal MOSFETs: “The DFN package with side-wettable flanks is gaining significant traction with automotive manufacturers as it saves space and can be automatically inspected. Our new 175°C parts are being used in under-the-hood applications, especially near the engine or gearbox. The unique offering of an automotive-grade MOSFET that is both qualified to 175°C and which incorporates side-wettable flanks makes the DFN2020 additionally suitable for a wide range of medium-power automotive applications.”

The new automotive-qualified parts extend Nexperia’s low and medium power MOSFET portfolio. Six 40 V and 60 V devices are available with the higher temperature rating and automotive approval, each with low RDS(on) of between 20m and 40m .

analog sensors and microcontrollers. The devices’ main power path (VIN) can connect to a power supply as low as 70 mV above than the output voltage, and an additional VBIAS rail enables support for very low input voltages. Both rails consume low quiescent currents of just 1.6 µA and 6 µA, respectively, providing an efficient solution for low-power performance. The TPS7A10 LDOs also boast a high power supply rejection ratio of 60 dB at 1 KHz.

The TPS7A10 regulators are supported by the TPS7A10EVM-004 evaluation module. Built to evaluate the operation and performance of the TPS7A10 LDO, the evaluation module offers a reference design for engineering applications requiring current of up to 300 mA.
