Electronics Industry Awards 2022

Rochester keeps businesses moving

Supporting customers and suppliers for over 40 years Our story

When Rochester Electronics was founded in 1981 the pace of technological advancements within the semiconductor industry began to result in a significant increase of end-of-life (EOL) components. Customers with long product production and in-service lifecycles, were met with increasing component obsolescence critical to their applications. Even obsolescence in non-heart-beat inexpensive components, often resulted in costly system re-designs and re-qualifications.

The founder Curt Gerrish identified this market need and established a vision which has become Rochester Electronics. Providing customers with an ongoing source of supplier authorised components following EOL or during market shortages; whilst ensuring a traceable, certified, and guaranteed supply to all market segments with longer product lifecycles. The innovative model ensured both suppliers and their valued customers receive the same high level of product lifecycle service required to keep their businesses moving.

Helping companies during shortages through authorised distribution

As the semiconductor shortage persists, Rochester Electronics has been helping OEMs & CEM’s by providing a continuous supply of a range of semiconductor parts from 70 of the top line Original Chip Manufacturers (OCM’s) such as: NXP, Texas Instruments, Infineon, Analog Devices and more… some of which are currently exhibiting extensive lead times of more than 52 weeks. Our customers are always assured of a 100 per cent authorised, traceable and guaranteed supply.

Diverse authorised inventory Through the years Rochester has continued to increase supplier authorisations. Today Rochester has over 70 supplier authorisations (which include acquisitions) and stocks over

and Technology office located in the US. This team can replicate an original device with full support from the OCM. The result is a form, fit, functional replacement, guaranteed to the original datasheet; and critically errata and software performance are also identical. Examples of completed product replications include the: Intel C186 & C196 CPU’s; the ADI ASDP- 2101series DSP range; and the NXP 80C592 microcontroller.

Hallmark of quality and standards As one of the leading world-wide semiconductor distributors, Rochester is committed to providing the highest levels of quality. All products are stored and produced according to AS6496 standards. Certifications include ISO-9001: 2015, AS9120B, TAPA FSR-A 2017, Qualified Manufacturers List (QML) MIL-PRF-38535, Qualified Suppliers List of Distributors (QSLD) and ITAR State Department Registration. We also comply to the key environmental standards such as, RoHS - Restriction of Hazardous Substances, WEEE, & REACH.

Last year we also achieved a key automotive quality milestone: IATF 16949:2016 for the design and manufacture of semiconductor components. The quality certifications and

partnerships offer customers peace of mind that the products they are investing in are certified, guaranteed, and authorised by the original manufacturer.

Rochester Electronics is nominated for the “Distributor of the Year” category in Electronics Industry Awards 2022.

15 billion devices (both active and EOL), covering more than 200,000-part numbers. Rochester is fully AS6496 compliant.

Licensed manufacturing Today, Rochester has the largest die bank in the world with over 12 billion die in stock. We have the capability to manufacture over

Components in Electronics

70,000 device types. All product is sold with the OCM’s full approval under the original manufacturer’s part number. We continue to offer newly built parts, in some cases 20 years after the original PDN discontinuation date.

Replication services In 2008 we established our first Design electronicsindustryawards.co.uk
