Pack More Punch with the New PWR-01 power supplies
Telonic Instruments announce the UK release of the new Kikusui PWR-01 series of wide-range benchtop programmable DC power supplies.
The PWR-01 series are versatile instruments with models offering 400W, 800W, and 1200W rated power output with maximum rated voltages up to 650V. Equipped with a 4-times voltage and current variable ratio, making this one of the most versatile range of DC power supplies on the market today, the PWR-01 provides flexible current and voltage for a variety of applications.
Variable internal impedance is a unique new feature that allows for various types of simulations suitable for automotive test and other battery-driven applications as well as solar-panel evaluation.
The PWR-01 is also equipped with a soft-start function that limits the inrush current, minimizing any harmful effects to DUTs such as DC motors. The power supplies are also equipped with ergonomic power setting knobs, allowing the operator to control voltage and current independently, as well as front-facing banana plugs designed for safety and convenience.
The PWR-01 programmable internal-memory feature lets the engineer save custom sequences on the power supply, eliminating the need to access a PC every time a test is conducted.
Synchronized operation allows for more complex sequences over multiple channels for accurate testing of DC/DC converters and other products.
LAN (LXI), USB, and RS-232 interfaces are included as a standard; the PWR can be operated in almost any testing environment via SCPI commands, facilitating system integration.
Kikusui power supplies are available for both sale and hire from UK based Telonic Instruments Ltd.

Partnership with Taiwan display manufacturer makes it a brace of commercialisation deals for Smartkem
UK chemicals specialist, SmartKem, has announced a second major
commercialisation partnership to develop and mass produce commercial low power, lightweight and unbreakable electronic displays for wearable and mobile applications using its organic thin film transistor (OTFT) technology.
The company has signed a Letter Of Intent (LOI) with a display maker in Taiwan, just weeks after announcing a similar agreement with one of China’s leading OLED manufacturers.
SmartKem has developed OTFT design rules and a process of record for transferring the technology on to industrial grade production lines in Asia.
Steve Kelly, SmartKem CEO, commented: “To report two significant partnerships in quick succession is fantastic and demonstrates the momentum within this technology space.
“Our technology enables displays with groundbreaking advantages of being thinner, lighter, stronger, better ergonomically designed and more energy efficient.
“Working with our partners, SmartKem is having a marked impact on the global display industry, enabling differentiation and uplift in user experience across a range of display applications.”

The LS-579 is based on the Intel 6th and 7th Generation Skylake and Kaby Lake Core processor families or the Xeon E3-1200 v5/v6 processor in a FCLGA1151 socket all with the Intel C236 chipset. The HD530 GPU in the Xeon processor offers 24 execution units (EUs), clocked at up to 1150MHz, decoding H.265/HEVC completely in hardware; the 630 GPU in the Kaby Lake version is largely identical to the 530 found in Skylake but with HEVC and VP9 support as the key feature of the upgrade. Displays can be connected via 1 VGA, 1 LVDS, 2 HDMI and one DP port, with up to three separate displays controlled simultaneously.
The LS-579 is equipped with 4 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, 3 x Intel I210-AT Gigabit Ethernet and 1 x Intel I219-LM Giga bit PHY LAN. The I210-AT enables 1000BASE-T implementations using an integrated PHY; it can be used for server system configurations. The I210-AT implements 4 receive queues and 4 transmit queues, with up to two queues dedicated for stream reservation or priority, and up to three queues allocated for strict priority.
Other features of the LS-579 are six USB3.0 ports, four SATAIII ports, four RS232 and two RS232/422/485 ports, four USB2.0 ports, two Key M PCIe M.2 ports for NVMe and two Key E PCIe M.2 ports for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, two Mini PCIe sockets with support for mSATA and a SIM slot. Power is via and external 9 - 32VDC input or a standard 24-pin ATX P/S.

Small and medium sizes added to enclosure range
With the introduction of two new sizes – size S (123x48x24mm) and size M (147x56x27mm), OKW has extended its STYLE-CASE range of high-gloss handheld enclosures. These complement the existing size L (166x64x31mm) models. STYLE-CASE is suitable for remote controls, notably in medical and social care but also in many household, office and industrial electronics applications.
STYLE-CASE offers ingress protection up to IP65 and is assembled using tamper-proof Torx screws – an important feature for medical and wellness applications.
The operating area in the top is recessed to
accommodate a membrane keypad or product label. There is an integrated battery compartment for two 1.5V AAA or AA cells, depending on which model is chosen. It is accessible from the outside (via the bottom section) and features a screw-fixed lid.
The enclosures are moulded from high quality UV-stable ASA plastic in traffic white (RAL 9016), or black (RAL 9005) PMMA plastic for infrared applications. Both plastics are rated UL 94 HB for flammability.
Accessories include battery clips (nickel-plated steel), sealing kits, self-tapping PCB fixing screws and a Torx T10 screwdriver.
OKW offers customised versions of STYLE-CASE. Options include custom colours; flame retardant (V-0) materials; EMC shielding; CNC machining; lacquering; printing of parts and labels; membrane keypads; display windows; installation and assembly.

Honeywell IHM Series Aerospace Proximity Sensors reduce maintenance costs and increase flight hours – now available at Aerco
Enhanced vibration and EMI specification; hermetic sealing; design to meet requirements of today’s composite aircraft
Aerco, the distributor and stockist of electrical and electronic components servicing hi-rel markets, is now stocking Honeywell’s IHM Series Aerospace Proximity Sensors, which boast industry-leading indirect lightning and dielectric ruggedness, plus enhanced vibration and EMI specifications to meet challenging applications found in today’s composite aircraft. Highly accurate and reliable, Honeywell IHM Series Aerospace Proximity Sensors are non-contact devices designed to sense the presence or absence of a target, providing on/off output, plus
they can also be configured with an optional health monitoring output to the host system.
Honeywell IHM Series Proximity Sensors have a hermetically-sealed, all-welded stainless steel construction for exceptional robustness and durability in harsh environments, eliminating any potential for contamination. Due to their non-contact design technology, Honeywell IHM Series Proximity Sensors detect the presence or absence of a target regardless of the often very dirty conditions in which they operate, thereby eliminating mechanical failure mechanisms, increasing revenue and reducing maintenance costs by increasing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBFs) and so minimising downtime. A further feature of the IHM Series Sensors is the optional third output state to indicate the health of the sensor (whether operating optimally or failed), which again reduces maintenance time and delayed flights, helping to lower overall maintenance costs across the lifetime of the aircraft.
