TECHNOLOGY FILE WIDE ASPECT RATIO TFT DISPLAY MODULES
New from Review Display Systems (RDS) is a comprehensive range of industrial specification, wide aspect ratio, 7in TFT display modules. The display modules feature a 16:9
widescreen aspect ratio and are available in a variety of resolutions, including 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA), 1024 x 600 pixels (WSVGA), and 1280 x
reproduction and wide viewing angles. Long-lifetime LED backlights with brightness specifications from 300cd/m² up to high luminance 1500cd/m² versions are supported. For harsh environments, an extended operating temperature range of -30˚C to +85˚C is also available. A choice of data interfaces
includes 24-bit RGB, 6-bit and 8-bit LVDS and MIPI (Mobile Industry Processor Interface) enable support for a colour palette of up to 16.7 million colours. Interconnect options include FFC (flat flexible cable) and ZIF (zero insertion force) connectors. To aid and assist the
development and implementation of graphical user interfaces, resistive and multi-touch projected capacitive (PCap) touch
800 pixels (WXGA). In-plane switching (IPS) is available on some of the 7.0-inch display modules which enables exceptional optical performance, highly consistent colour
COMBINING DEEP LEARNING WITH VISION
The In-Sight 2800 series vision system from Cognex Corporation is said to cut the power of a full-featured vision system into an easy-to-use package that gets applications running in minutes. “It has never been easier to apply deep learning to
a production line,” said Carl Gerst, executive vice president of Products, Platforms and Solutions. “The In-Sight 2800 system can be trained with just a few images to automate everything from simple pass/fail inspections to advanced classification and sorting – no PC or programming is needed.” The EasyBuilder interface guides users through
the application development process step-by-step; while In-Sight’s intuitive, point-and-click interface, simplifies more complex application development and keeps operations moving fast. The combination of deep learning and traditional
vision tools gives users the flexibility to solve a broad range of inspection applications – operators simply select the tool designed to deliver the highest possible accuracy for their task. Tools can be used individually for simple jobs or chained together for more complex logic sequences.

ALUMINIUM POLYMER CAPACITORS
According to Panasonic Industry, its SP-Cap portfolio of Aluminium Polymer capacitors is the ideal choice wherever a low ESR would be the primary consideration for identifying the most suitable capacitor. The SP-Caps have proven to be an alternative to multilayer ceramic
capacitors (MLCCs) and pure tantalum capacitors. They require less parts and space on the PCB and provide much better performance, especially for modern and complex low- profile electronical devices, with large capacitance up to 820 µF and a ripple current up to 10.2 Arms. Now, the technology has been expanded further
with the new KX series – a very high endurance and particularly heat tolerant series. Featuring the typically low ESR of 9mohm, a large
capacitance, a low profile, long life span and high characteristic stability, this latest member of the SP-Cap family stands out with an endurance of 5,500 hours at 125˚C and thus promises an outstanding reliability. Its damp heat specifications – 1,000 hours at 85˚C 85%RH – similar to the JX series, mean it is suitable for demanding outdoor applications.

POSITIONING RECEIVER OFFERS CONNECTIVITY TO THE LATEST GNSS SATELLITES AND SIGNALS
Septentrio has launched AsteRx-U3, the successor of the popular AsteRx-U multi- frequency GNSS receiver for construction, mining and other machine control applications. This combines the company’s latest triple-
band precise positioning GNSS core with extended wireless communication features including Wi-Fi, UHF and 4G LTE. The versatile connectivity features of this receiver make it easy to fit it into any control system and enable simple and cost-effective overall design. “We are excited to introduce AsteRx-U3 to the market of industrial automation. Its
advanced connectivity package offers manufacturers and integrators access to reliable high-accuracy positioning in a system which is versatile, easy to use and integrate,” said Silviu Taujan, product manager. The receiver offers a guaranteed low
latency of under 10 msec and a high data rate, which allows machines to work with rapid as well as accurate movements; and an IP68-rated housing.

ETHERNET SWITCHES FOR HARSH ENVIRONMENTS
Phoenix Contact’s FL Switch 1000NT series of Ethernet Switches has been further expanded with wide temperature models with advanced approvals for process and maritimemarkets.
The switches feature a robust metal housing, with
great port density, and a best-in-class automation protocol traffic prioritisation, the company explains. Select models also feature SFP ports, providing greater flexibility for customers. With a robust housing, the FL Switch 1000NT
series has high immunity to noise, enabling its use in the most critical of applications. Energy efficient Ethernet also allows these switches to feature a reduced power consumption, which will lessen heat and the overall footprint of the device. The sevenmodels allow for applications in a variety of industries such as oil and gas and shipbuilding.
