Cimcorp is part of the Japanese company Murata Machinery, a supplier of turnkey automation solutions in the field of intralogistics. The company manufactures and integrates complete material flow systems for the tyre industry, as well as developing and implementing robotics solutions for order processing and storage of goods. One supplier who has been meeting these high requirements for over


15 years is Tsubaki Kabelschlepp, with its advanced cable carrier systems being used in the robotics solutions from Cimcorp. “Our solutions for order processing are an efficient combination of


proven robot technology and intelligent software,” explained Mika Laine. “The key elements of these order picking systems are large-area gantry robots that can handle a series of processes.” As an example, they enable buffer storage of goods from production or goods intake, sorting and sequencing of the products to be processed, order picking, delivery scheduling, loading planning and order release. The systems are based on a gantry structure. The moving gantry units


are controlled using feed drives, with one installed on each side of the gantry. Thanks to this modular overhead gantry concept, the robotics solutions can cover large working areas. Depending on the throughput requirements of the application, any number of robots can be used, each equipped with grippers specially developed for handling the respective


products. The Cimcorp systems are used in production and distribution centres in over 40 countries on six continents. They allow customers to reduce their operating costs, ensure traceability and increase efficiency. To reduce the handling and picking times in intralogistics, the systems have


to move reliably with high speeds and accelerations. This is where cable carriers from Tsubaki Kabelschlepp come into play. They ensure reliable and safe movement of the cables and hoses while taking the complex parameters into account. Typically, the long travel lengths of the gantry units are equipped with a gliding hybrid design MC0650 cable carrier: the combination of a plastic cable carrier and an RS aluminium profile offers stability and reliability. Cable carriers from the M series have been specially developed for difficult


conditions. The robust, multi-variable cable carriers are equipped with plastic side bands and stay variants made of plastic or aluminium; and the replaceable glide shoes made of a special plastic make the cable carriers the ideal choice for fast gliding applications, the company explains. The media required for controlling the 3D shuttle units, which act as


grippers for goods and products, are reliably guided with cable carriers from the BASIC LINE series, depending on their size. In this case, Cimcorp uses the UNIFLEX Advanced 1455 and 1555 cable carriers. “This series is lightweight and very robust,” explains Fabian Nölke.


“Reinforced wear areas on the outside additionally ensure a particularly long service life for applications laying on their side.” The crossbars connecting the two side bands are equipped with a ball joint mechanism, ensuring that the cable carrier is particularly sturdy when closed and allowing fast cable laying.
