FRANCHISEFOCUS INVESTMENT: FROM £45 ,000* The Right choice
From finance to frontline: Why I chose a homecare franchise with Right at Home
Today, values guide everything we Sanjay Vadhera
do. We support our carers to grow, with ongoing training and opportunities to think creatively. We don't just offer training, we invest time and effort into helping carers grow. That culture is matched by the
support I’ve received across the franchise network. The network is incredibly collaborative. You can pick up the phone to anyone… and they'll share advice, tools, and even documents. We take pride in matching carers
and clients based not only on needs, but personality and culture. It’s about respect. If someone has a prayer space in their home, our carers know how to approach it with sensitivity. We don’t over-recruit. We ensure
Sanjay Vadhera, owner Right at Home Ealing & Hounslow, tells his story… After two decades in finance, I found myself re-evaluating what success meant. I was a chartered accountant working in senior roles at Ofgem and the British Transport Police – the work was rewarding on paper, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I
threw myself into volunteering with the charity Sewa Day, helping coordinate the delivery of thousands of hot meals to NHS staff across West London. The mindset of offering selfless
help stuck with me. But I still had a mortgage and bills to pay. I wanted to find something that allowed me to help people, but also make a living. That’s when I spoke to another
accountant who had bought a Right at Home franchise. Like me, he had no background in care, but he described a model that didn’t require owning a care home and offered both financial

viability and real impact. I’d never considered franchising before, but the concept of delivering care directly in people’s homes struck a chord. I didn’t know much about the
sector, and I thought I'd need to buy a care home. But when I learned about domiciliary care and what Right at Home offered, it clicked. I passed the interview… then ended up taking on a resale business in my local area. The rest is history. I took over Right at Home Ealing & Hounslow in 2023. Though I’d never run a business before, I knew how to lead teams. I spent my first six months observing, listening, and learning.
our team has stable hours and feels supported, which makes us stand out in this industry. Our efforts are paying off. Our
homecare.co.uk score rose from 8.9 to 10, and we’re seeing stronger referrals and better applications. Being out in the community has
changed everything. When people think about homecare in West London, they think of us. Like any business, it has its challenges –
client turnover, red tape, and recruitment – but the rewards are worth it. My advice to others considering this
sector would be: Be prepared to graft. It’s hard work, but if you care about people, the rewards are huge. For me, the biggest reward is
purpose. I go home every day knowing I’ve made a difference. That feeling is second to none.
