hen Franco Moller took over the Home Instead franchise in Tavistock and Tamar Valley in 2024, he was buying a resale which


was already successful, had a strong reputation and a stable team, but which offered him the opportunity for further growth. He brought with him a wealth of experience from


the corporate world and a deep desire to make a meaningful impact. A former diplomat and executive in FTSE-listed companies, Franco knew how to lead change, engage teams, and drive growth. But this time, his mission was to help older people live better lives through high-quality, person-centred care. Franco was drawn to, and particularly impressed by,


the training, systems and support offered by Home Instead, recalling his fi rst week as “like jumping onto a moving train”. Payroll, invoicing, and systems had to be understood quickly, but the team were welcoming and supportive. Franco spent three months listening before making any changes, focusing on fi nancials, strategy, and care quality. His leadership style is hands-on and people-fi rst, with a strong emphasis on trust, structure, and continuous improvement. The team now numbers 55, including 45 Care


Professionals and an offi ce team who work both full and part-time covering training, recruitment, fi nance and more. In just six months, care hours and turnover have grown by over 20%. When Franco had to go into hospital for a short period, the team stepped up and carried on seamlessly. “It was an acid test of our relationship,” he says, “and they absolutely delivered.”

well-established and proven Home Instead business model which allows him to concentrate on growing the business. Expansion is already underway. Live-in care and specialist services like dementia and respite care are all part of the services they currently provide, and new offerings are on the horizon. Nail care will launch later this year, and Healthcare at Home is planned for next year.

Community engagement is a foundation of Franco’s


approach – something which has also been important to the Tavistock team, including running regular Memory Cafés, tech cafés and supporting local events. Franco’s vision is clear: not only to help people stay in


their own homes, but to ensure they continue to enjoy a full social life. It’s good for clients, good for the team and the wider community. He says: “We’re helping people live better lives every


day, and that’s something truly special. The support from Home Instead has been outstanding, and the team here has shown incredible dedication. It’s not just about care hours or turnover, it’s about building trust, making a difference, and being part of something bigger. Even with AI transforming industries, person-centred care will always need people. I genuinely love what I do, and I’m excited about what’s next.” 
