PROACTIVE MOBILITY PLANNING A DYNAMIC FUTURE
Multi-State Collaboration through the MAP Forum
As the nature of collaborative planning relationships has evolved in the region, NYMTC and other metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) and Councils of Governments (COGs) in the New York-New Jersey-Connecticut-Pennsylvania metro- politan region formalized agreements to enhance multi-state collaboration through the Metropolitan Area Planning (MAP) Forum.
The MAP Forum collectively works to better coordinate plans and programs through regular communication and information exchange between partnering MPOs. To the extent practicable, the consortium works together to coordinate and harmonize the transportation planning processes of all MPOs and COGs involved.
On the MAP Forum’s behalf, NYMTC gathered input for its Regional Waste Movement Study - a multi-state, NYMTC-funded examination of the needs and opportunities associated with the movement of municipal solid waste and construction and dem- olition debris across the multi-state New York metropolitan region. The results of the study will be released in spring 2025.
