• Facilitate a community-driven vision
• Create short, medium, and long-term con- cepts for improvements to the transportation network, public realm, and access to open space
• Increase community leadership to support implementation of strategies and future planning efforts
• Foster long-term collaboration between stakeholders, residents, and City and State government
The study will result in an early 2025 plan to reconnect communities and address public health issues.
“We must seize the opportunity now to reimagine the Cross Bronx Expressway, reconnect neighbor- hoods that have been historically wronged, and advance concepts that will improve the quality of life for Bronx residents,” NYC DOT Com- missioner Ydanis Rodriguez. “We will continue engaging with the neighborhood and encourage Bronxites to participate and share their thoughts for this once-in-a-generation transformation of this vital corridor.”
The study team will work together to advance the implementation of short-term projects start- ing in 2025. Major infrastructure improvements will require additional coordination to identify sustainable funding sources and continue conversations between City and State agencies and community stakeholders.
