PROACTIVE MOBILITY PLANNING A DYNAMIC FUTURE


SUFFOLK COUNTY SUFFOLK COUNTY’S REIMAGINE TRANSIT INITIATIVE


Unveiled in October of 2023, the Reimagine Transit Initiative was the first comprehensive redesign of the Suffolk County Transit fixed route bus system since its inception in the 1980s. As a part of the redesign schedules were refreshed, route paths were analyzed and optimized to reflect current travel needs, 7 new timed transfer points were set up county- wide to improve connections and speed travel, and service was expanded to operate 7 days a week from 5 am to 10 pm. This uniform service expansion is beneficial to our 2.9m annual riders and will improve mobility for all of Suffolk County’s 1.5m citizens. The Reimagine Transit study was based on planning which was funded through the UPWP including the Mobility Implementation Plan and the Implementation Plan Development and Public Out- reach for the Suffolk County Reimagine Transit Initiative.
