PROACTIVE MOBILITY PLANNING A DYNAMIC FUTURE

NASSAU COUNTY NASSAU HUB TRANSIT INITIATIVE PROJECT

Rosa Parks-Hempstead Transit Center

LIRR Hempstead Station

The Nassau Hub Transit Initiative Project will create a bus rapid transit (BRT) service between the Rosa Parks-Hempstead Transit Center in the Village of Hempstead, NY, and the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Main Line station in the Village of Westbury, NY, which will address congestion, enhance connectivity between major destinations, and increase service to environmental justice (EJ) communities. The BRT service will be operated as part of the County’s Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) bus, a major suburban transit system. The BRT service would be approximately 6 miles in each direction and approximately 12 mile round trip, with a service area population of over 1.3 million people.
