Summer fair The summer fair at the
village hall will be held on Saturday July 19th from 11 am until 2 pm. There will be lots of stalls from trash and treasure to plants, games, raffle and pie and peas lunches and cream scones;something for every one. All proceeds are for the upgrading of the village hall.
Bible week The third Ribble Valley .
Bible Week, from August 19th to 24th, will be a family centred time of spiritual rest and refreshment and visitors can camp for the whole time ■ or come for days or individual events. Garden swop A Sabden woman has set
up a garden swop if anyone is interested. It works by people who have a large garden they cannot tend allowing some one else, who may not have much garden area, to work it instead. Sue Clarke from Gardeners Row has set up the scheme and she herself does hergardening on someone else’s plot because she has only a small space. Ifyou have

Sabden FC Work has begun on repairs
to the roof and refurbishing Sabden FC’s pavilion, and training has begun for the new season. Anyone inter ested in playing cant go along to training on Tuesdays and Thursdays in July at the Nut ter Barn pitch at 6-30pm. The club has entered the Burnley Sunday League again and will, also field a seven-a-side team to play at Roefield in Clitheroe frommid-July.

ish Church has a new group, to help care for it. Friends of Whalley Parish Church has been launched to raise money to help maintain and repair the fabric ofthe Grade 1 listed medieval building. Repointing and other
maintenance will cost at least £200,000 over the next five years. The church receives no
state aid but can apply for grants to organisations such as English Heritage. To qualify for grants, a large amount of money needs to be raised by the church. People whojoin the
