Mel Diack MBE (61), of Mitton Road, Whalley, was invited by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission to attend the event to be held at St Sym- phorien Military Cemetery at .Mons, Belgium, on Monday, August 4th.

The ceremony will be at

chairman of Clitheroe Youth Forum, lost his great-great uncle, William Bathgate, dur ing the war. Private Bathgate served

in the Gordon Highlanders and was killed in action, aged 24, on August 23rd, 1914. He is buried at St Symphorien , Military Cemetery. Mr Diack said: “The re

search for tracing the rela tives of those who lost family members has been carried out by History Angels, and with so many lives lost and the number of families living today, I have been rather for tunate to have been selected,
