Production Company from Manchester brought a sum mertime pantomine to The Manor House, Chatburn. The lively songs such as “I

Do Like to Be Beside the Sea side” and “Bring Me Sunshine ■ encouraged everyone tojoin in singing and playing the percussion instruments. The residents and daycare clients had agreat time pretending they were at the seaside. Also at the Manor House,

the Fourth of July was celebrated in true American style with bunting and flags adding to the atmosphere. The residents, respite clients and staff wore red, white, blue, stars and stripes. Activities of the day included an American quiz, and appropriate songs such as “Dixie” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy” were sung. The residents' baking group enjoyed making Manhattan maple roll and baked Alaska. The menu included American half pounders and New York City hot dogs, followed by Mis sissippi mud pie.

Mrs Lund Joined Downham WI in the 1950s and contributed so much in many different ways over the years including being Downham WI president. Mrs Lund was very modest, but was an extremely talented and skilled craftswoman and was on the LFWI Show Committee for many years. She will be very sadly missed. The entertainment at the
