wore a strapless A-line ivory silk gown sprinkled with crystals and mth a tion of exposed silk tulle and silk flowers cascading down the back. She earned a trailing shower bouquet of ivory roses and orchids, white sweet peas and a selection of foliage and diamante pm detail. Chief bridesmaid was Miss Jenny Bond and the other attend^tss were the bride’s sister, Miss Beth 'Thom- ber, her cousins Misses Jane, (Jhvia and Katie Thomber, and Miss Janine Myer- scough. They wore turquoise and moss- coloured full-length chiffon.dresses and
carried hand-tied posies of sweet peas. Best man was the bride’s cousin and
bridegroom’s friend Mr Matthew Thomber, groomsman was Mr Ben Par sons and the ushers were the bride groom’s brothers Messrs Darren and Ian Hopcraft, the bride’s brother Mr Adam 'Thomber and the bride’s cousin Mr Damien Hart. Following the service, conducted by

McLean. The bride, of Cowper Avenue, Clitheroe, is an assis
tant at the Post House Hotel, and the daughter of Mr and Mrs Anthony and Julie Green, of St Ann’s Square, Low Moor, Clitheroe. Her bridegroom, also of Cowper Avenue, is a sales representative and the son of Mrs Margaret McLean, of Foulridge, and Mr James McLean, of Cornwall. Given away by her father, the bride wore a full-
length gown of white lace and a veil held in place with a tiara. She carried a bouquet of fuchsia orchids and lilies. She was attended by Claire Brockley, Jessica Green, Holly Tjme, Joanna Wood and Grace Brock- ley. They all wore dresses of cerise satin. Best man was Mr Ian Dalby and groomsmen were
Mr Andrew McLean and Oliver McLean. Two-year- old Anthony McLean was the page. The wedding ceremony and reception were both

Dewhurst. The bride, a primary school teacher, is the daugh
ter of Mr and Mrs Mark and Alison Brewer, of Clitheroe. The bridegroom, a vehicle refinisher, is the son of Mr and Mrs Paul and Ros Dewhurst, also of
Clitheroe. Given away by her father, the bride wore an ivory _
satin gown and carried a bouquet of roses. She was attended by her sister, Charlotte Brewer,
who was the chief bridesmaid, together with her sis ter Victoria Brewer, her courin Sophie Wenbom and Caroline Watkins, the bridegroom's sister. All wore blue, strapless, full-length satin dresses. Best man was Mr John Linley and ushers were the
bride's brother, Christopher Brewer, plusRichard Pells, Ben Whitham, Matthew Day, Trevor Watkins
and Bryan Middleton. Following a ceremony conducted by Canon Rod

CROWDS flocked to Sat urday’s 65th Hodder Valley Show which was blessed with bright sunshine
throughout. A real highlight in the rural
calendar, this year’s show was one of the best ever for the number of visitors who attend
ed. Held at a new venue this
year. Blue Butts Farm between Slaidbum and New ton, exhibitors travelled from far and wide to show their live stock. “The show went very well
and the excellent day set it all off,” said show president Mr Tom Robinson. “There was a brilliant tmmout of livestock and trade stands. I t ’s a real
good country show and I think the committee do very well. There’s something for every one without it becoming too commercial.” Mr Robinson added that
the highlight of the day for him, apart from being asked to be president, was the food haU, which was a new addition to the show. Ribble Valley, Coun. Bever
ley Jones also enjoyed the hos pitality of the small country
event. “The weather enhanced the
occasion, but we were very impressed by the friendly atmosphere and the range of interesting exhibits,”said Coun. Jones. “The cattle were absolutely
beautiful that were in the show and were extremely varied, we were extremely fascinated by
the White Park breed. “We were also on the receiv
ing end of generous hospitality from the show organisers who provided lunch for us and also escorted us round the show ground.” Amongst the many attrac
tions the Bulldog Gymnastic Display Team wowed the crowds with their daredevil antics with some onlookers even reluctantly getting roped into the display themselves. Meanwhile, immaculately
turned out horsewoman Emma Green kept the audi ence captivated with her superb demonstration of rid ing side saddle in the show ground’s main ring. Other crowd puUers includ
ed the display of Airedale Bea gles, while visitors watched in awe as the Valley’s finest took

part in a tug o’war and sheep shearing competitions under the warm September sun. Local yoimgsters, who sub
mitted entries in the childreii’s section, demonstrated their vivid imaginations with such exhibits as cress grown on a
tooth brush, a recycled owl made from yoghurt pots, a ready meal tray and curtain tie backs, as well as a rocket made from Coca Cola cans. There were also floods of
necklaces, one made from radishes and another from Liquorice Allsorts and their amazing array of decorated
